Grief and rage swept the country after the police killing of George Floyd in Minneapolis, Minnesota, in late May. His death renewed debate about racialized police violence and the disproportionate killing of Black Americans, who are up to four times likelier than white Americans to be killed by police.
That debate has typically centered on policing itself. But Maj Toure, the founder of Black Guns Matter, has taken another tack: Advocating for Black Americans to take up arms for self-defense.
While many argue that the way to prevent violence is to have fewer guns, he says the opposite.
"I believe that more Black people would be alive if they were armed," Toure told Business Insider Weekly.

This guy has been around for a while. Every story I have seen about him makes him seem like a decent American. Of course, some of the stories make him seem like a radical freak for just wanting to exercise his 2a rights. So he must be one of the good guys then.
Just because someone carries a gun doesn't mean that he's a conservative hero. These guys have the same agenda as the rest of BLM - they just want to shoot things up rather than just setting fire to and smashing things.
I would welcome them into my white, leftist dominated neighborhood — as long as they’re not gunning for me.
It is an individual right. God Bless them. And when our society collapses I wish them the best in the defense of their families and property and hope that we are standing side by side.
Lots of luck with your own version of kumbaya when these guys start gunning down police officers and random white people. Lots of white liberals liked to pretend that the Black Panthers were "standing side by side" with them too.
What economic policy he supports is really irrelevant, because today’s radical left isn’t so much about socialist economics as it is about waging a racial war (which is why Bernie Sanders failed miserably with black voters). If those waging the racial war say that they want a market economy rather than a socialist economy, does it really matter?
Sounds like a good way to reduce crime.
Or maybe “they” want you to think this. Remember the goal of these evil people is divide and conquer.
While white and black people are fighting each other, Democrats don’t have to explain themselves.
Good luck with that. The ones I saw at Stone mountain believe you're a slave master simply because you're white.
I welcome more people exercising their Second Amendment rights. I also think people tend to be more civil and polite when everyone is well armed. The risk of escalation is too great and nobody wants to deal with consequences of that level, so just about everyone keeps their base instincts in check.
All Americans should be taught how to use a firearm. I just don’t like how the conversation in that article is separating grounds of people. It seems to indicate some kind of show down in the future. The show down should be against anti-American groups looking to to destroy our nation from within.
Given the death tool in Baltimore, Chicago, NYC, St. Louis, LA, etc, I’m not sure they need lessons.
I’m getting my impressions from the horse’s mouth based on the posted article, not from a mysterious “they.” The guy organizing this is lamenting the fact that “unarmed” blacks are being shot by police officers. At a practical level, what does he mean by this? In almost all cases, these “unarmed” blacks who are killed by police were committing crimes, resisting arrest, or making threatening moves. Rather than taking this behavior to task, he’s complaining that they were unarmed and unable to kill a police officer while resisting arrest.
Why not advocate for Americans to take up arms for self defense?
If there truly were “systemic racism” the 2nd Amendment right to keep and bear arms wouldn’t apply to blacks, but blacks have as much right to keep and bear arms as whites.

HEART ATTACK DAMMIT...probably drug induced heart attack. Any article I read...or start to...and it says “police killing” makes me furious. They are determined to push the narrative, despite the autopsy that says several things that defy the police killing scenario.

Was at my local gun range last Friday and they run a "Carry Permit" class every morning - there were ten young black girls in the lounge area waiting for the class to start.
If their men are drifting losers and the police can't/won't help them, then they have to protect themselves.
Personal responsibility - that's a winner.
I guess the knee on the neck for 8 minutes was street therapy with no contribution to his death.
