Ford Motor Company Employees have asked the company’s leadership to stop making and selling police vehicles.
According to Verge, the internal discussion came as the demands for racial justice raged across the country.
In response, Ford CEO Jim Hackett has told employees in a letter that he doesn’t think it’s “controversial that the Ford Police Interceptor helps officers do their job” and that Ford will continue the business.
Ford has the market when it comes to making police cars, accounting for two-thirds of the cop cars on the street.
Despite Ford’s success in the police car market, employees, including black workers who are part of Ford’s African Ancestry Network (FAAN) employee resource group have circulated a letter asking the company to “cease development, production, and sale of all custom police vehicles and products.”
This is one reason why employees inside Ford are now arguing that the company should sever its relationship with police. “We cannot claim to support the fight against systemic racism while supplying and supporting the very systems that perpetrate violence against Black Americans,” the group wrote, according to Jalopnik.
They continued:
Throughout our history, the vehicles that Ford employees design and build have been used as accessories to police brutality and oppression. We know that while many join, support, or supply law enforcement with good intentions, these racist policing practices that plague our society are historic and systemic — a history and system perpetuated by Ford for over 70 years — ever since Ford introduced the first-ever police package in 1950. As an undeniable part of that history and system, we are long overdue to “think and act differently” on our role in racism.

Well OK, but then we will have massive layoffs as a result and we will have to start with the people who signed the letter since they felt so strongly about the subject.
If they don’t like it, they should try to get a job elsewhere.

Employees such as these do not understand how businesses make money and generate the revenue to pay them and pay for their fringe benefits.
Summit Co. Utah uses all black Ford SUV’s and trucks. We have a black F150 and everytime we get behind someone they slow down to the speed limit. I told the wife we should get a light bar, a cop bumper, and some cop sunglasses for her.

I am in the projects at least several times a week. The majority of people do not want the police defunded. I’ve actually not yet met one that wanted them fully defunded.
Is it media does a good job of making it look like the majority want this. They’ve always done a good job with that.
I’m sure there are enough idiots that want them defunded but they are certainly not the majority
Look for sabotage of police cars on the assembly line next.

I am concerned about sabotage.
Like the wrenches left in the Harley Transmissions, back in the day.
Or worse, some major failure programmed to happen at, say, over 100 mph, and the flashing lights/siren on.
Like tranny shifts to park, or throttle sticks wide open, etc.
If Ford chooses to support the Marxist BLM, and if the foolish employees want to eliminate cop cars from their lineup, fine. I suspect that the number of potential customers who find this offensive is far greater than the number of BLMers who would be convinced to buy a new Ford.
And, as one who has owned many Fords over the years, they are now out of the running for my next veh.
When a company faces bankruptcy it is much easier to pink slip non or under performers with out a pile of paperwork.

How the press loves to generalize when it suits their purposes.
What really happened here is the company got woke, and a small group of agitator employees went full stupid. There’s a very good chance only a small portion of the employees feel this way, but now the company can’t shut them up, having already folded their hand to manage the company themselves.
Perhaps for the same very reason Ford supports Racist Hate Groups.

I’d make a blunt statement as the CEO....you manufacture cars...you don’t manufacture social justice. Either you concentrate on your job, or we’ll find people eager to be employed, and you can go back to the quickie-mart, or the local car-wash.
