After reading my latest Post report, @hughhewitt tells his radio audience this morning that he hears from several leading conservatives that Justice Alito, 70, is considering retirement, and adds that he also hears the Alito family is ready to leave Washington, D.C.— Robert Costa (@costareports) July 1, 2020
A lifetime appointment is just like an all-you-can-eat buffet. Just because you can doesn’t mean you have to. If the Republic is to survive, we have to get to the point where it isn’t so critically dependent upon individual personalities being in specific roles.
Sandra Day O’Connor is still alive, fourteen years after retiring to take care of her ailing husband. She’s also only three years older than Ginsburg, who apparently believes in the system so much that she doesn’t trust anyone else to sit in her seat despite a series of significant health issues.

At the Pearly Gates.
I wonder if the closet liberal and anti-Trumper did a little jig after posting this.
Lol! Imagine the apocalyptic fustercluck in DC if next week Alito, Thomas, Ginsburg and Bryer all announced their retirements.
Hewitt fell for the Russia Russia Russia hoax hook, line, and stinker.
He’d better retire soon for there to be time to get a replacement. It would be a good move. He’s 70, and it’s time. Gives us a younger replacement, who will sit for 25 - 30 years. And.....it’s a great campaign issue, played out right before the election, esp if Trump picks a woman.
First thought I had when I read that was that this just might be Alito dropping a gentle reminder to everyone that elections have consequences....
If it happens before the Election count on that 2012 worthless loser...and perhaps one or two others...seeking to block a replacement.

I have always felt that we send some wholesome, well intentioned, conservative representatives to Congress, and the moment they step off of the plane, they are corrupted. The spiritual warfare is overwhelming there.
What we need to do is focus on containing the court so it can't do any more damage. Focus on reform. The problem with the supreme court is the overreach of power not the justices that wield it. Nine men in robes were never supposed to decide every life changing issue for 300 million people.
They are a symptom of the disease.
We have to start looking at academia, and media/entertainment this is where the damage is being done.
RE: Justice Alito considering retirement
Why? is he sick or just tired of putting up with all these S**T? Can’t he wait for Ginsburg to leave first?
Or did he get a horse’s head in his bed?
Amen!
Let's face it, there's a good chance the next President will replace at least two Justices. Ginsberg just can't live forever. And Alito's been rumored to be a short timer for a while now. Throw in Thomas as a possible retirement and it's possible that the court could be defined for decades by the next President.
It sure would be satisfying seeing Roberts shoved down into a permanent minority dissenting vote, that rotten politicized hack.
He should have done this earlier. Its going to be hard to confirm a new justice before the end of the year.
A great deal of rage of #NeverTrump and the lunatic left has always been about the Supremes. We so far we have been burned mostly by Roberts. This election is for the court and the life of the Republic.
