AP) – North Carolina’s governor has ordered people across the state to wear masks or other face coverings in public to fight the spread of COVID-19.
Gov. Roy Cooper issued an executive order Wednesday that people must wear face coverings in public when it’s not possible to maintain physical distance.
The order also mandates masks or other face coverings for employees of businesses including retailers and restaurants, as well as state employees in the executive branch.
Violations of Cooper’s executive orders are punishable by misdemeanor.

OMG - yes, people have gone insane!
We have the statwide ‘wear a mask’ edict in VA for a couple of weeks now. People are just not doing it. As the weeks have gone on, fewer & fewer are wearing them. A relative went to 3 stores yesterday, did not wear a mask in any of them & in one store, the employees were not wearing masks. Another relative said that in his small community, if a place of business requires a mask, people just take their business elsewhere.
The edict here is supposed to be enforced by the “Health Department”, so you can imagine how that is (not!) happening. Also, if you are exempt for one of many reasons listed in the Gov’s order, you do not have to explain it. Employees of wherever you are not wearing a mask are not to interrogate you about it.
In NC, there should be exemptions to having to wear a mask. Also, check who is responsible for ‘enforcing’ this ... it makes a difference.
How can you eat or drink from a straw with a mask on?
One more thing .... a lot of those who are wearing masks are leaving their noses uncovered so they CAN breathe.
Of course in South Carolina which is inching back into into more stringent China Flu rules, we would have to vote the Republicans out of office

I bought a fart machine and I set it off in the stores when someone gets in my 6’ range. I explain that I have a phobia to close contact and it happens when it is violated.

Executive Orders are not law... He is not dictator. Cooper has to go through the legislative branch and sign a bill to make it a law.
They only apply to the Executive Branch.
End of story...

The key part is: Anyone who declines to wear a Face Covering for these reasons should not be required to produce documentation or any other proof of a condition.

I live near the NC/SC border, so I know which side I will be if shopping

That’s the plan.
Just turned down a nice gig with good players because masks are required “some of the time, not sure”. (They were trying to be coy about exactly how it worked). I told them if masks are needed it’s too dangerous to go there.
