The lone African American member of President Donald Trump's Cabinet said Monday he would “work” the president on the issue of athletes taking a knee during the national anthem, though Trump has shown no signs of softening, tweeting over the weekend that he would not watch soccer or football if players don't stand for the national anthem.
Housing and Urban Development Secretary Ben Carson said he believes that players are kneeling to protest police brutality, not because they disrespect the flag. He added that players need to make that clear.

If that’s really true, they could stand for the anthem, then take a short knee at the end of it.

BS. They believe America is a racist country and by failing to stand for the flag & anthem they show their contempt for both. If they were not protesting the flag and the USA there would be no point in kneeling during the anthem. Dr. Carson must not be as bright as people think he is.

Unfortunately, I think Dr. Carson is being played. The players kneeling most certainly are showing disrespect for our nation, not just protesting police brutality. Look at the point in the game during which they kneel—during the National Anthem, a tribute to the triumph of the fledgling U.S. over the tyranny of Great Britain, the triumph of a nation dedicated to freedom over an arrogant nation who kidnapped and impressed men, including Americans, into their navy, who taxed people without consent, and committed many other acts which would horrify these idiot kneelers. So they show disrespect to the nation who went to war with the mightiest country of its time in order to have a country of freedom for its citizens.
Trump will likely work on Carson....to clarify what this nonsense truly is all about.

Tell them not kneel during the Nation Anthem then. It’s one minute out of 3 hours of boredom while referees throw flags and explain what things did or didn’t happen.
