Biden says Floyd death having bigger global impact than MLK assassination
The Hill ^ | 06 11 2020 | Max Greenwood

Former Vice President Joe Biden said on Thursday that even the 1968 assassination of the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. did not have the same global impact as the killing of George Floyd in police custody last month has.

Speaking at a roundtable discussion in Philadelphia, Biden said that the advent of smartphones had allowed the reality of police brutality against people of color to spread like it never has before, comparing it to how the rise of television in the 1960s showed Americans the police violence that marked the Civil Rights Movement.

“Even Dr. King’s assassination did not have the worldwide impact that George Floyd’s death did,” Biden said. “It’s just like television changed the Civil Rights movement for the better when they saw Bull Connor and his dogs ripping the clothes off of elderly black women going to church and firehoses ripping the skin off of young kids.”

“What happened to George Floyd – now you got how many people around the country, millions of cell phones. It’s changed the way everybody’s looking at this,” he continued. “Look at the millions of people marching around the world.”

Funny isn’t it Joe?

One was a reverend with a huge following
The other
A meth junkie followed only by his dealer

How far down the grievance industry has fallen to gain martyrs.

I doubt it...

I still lived in New Zealand in April 1968 when Dr King was assassinated..

I remember how it effected people and how it was reported on the news for days...many people around the world knew of him and admired him before his death...

Only a handful of people ever met George Floyd (though the law enforcement and prisons knew of him)

People in NZ this month wouldn’t know of him from Adam...

This remark by biden is rediculus comparing a great peaceful smart leader to a criminal jail bird who assaulted and threatened people. Way to go Joe.

I don’t know that he is wrong. MLK made his greatest impact when he was alive. I don’t remember his death being as transformative as St. George’s.

Check that. From wikipedia:

Connor was born in 1897 in Selma, Alabama, the son of Molly (Godwin) and Hugh King Connor, a train dispatcher and telegraph operator.[5] He entered politics as a Democrat in 1934 winning a seat in the Alabama House of Representatives.[6] As a legislator, he supported populist measures and pro-union issues for white people. He voted for extending the poll tax, which served as a barrier to voter registration by poor blacks and whites, and against an anti-sedition bill intended to stifle union activity.[7] He did not stand for a second term in 1936, instead running for Commissioner of Public Safety for the City of Birmingham. Concurrently during this period, Connor served as the radio play-by-play broadcaster of the minor league Birmingham Barons baseball club spanning the 1932 through 1936 seasons.[8]Willie Mays remembered listening to him call games: “Pretty good announcer, too, although I think he used to get too excited.”[9]

IMHO....you cannot ever compare flawed, George Floyd to the Rev. Martin Luther King. Unlike Abraham Lincoln...who changed the world forever in pursuit of equality for all human beings, George Floyd will be quickly forgotten as the entire story of his brutal murder is fully and truthfully revealed.

Martin Luther King is in a league of his own. When I listen to his speeches like the ones to the Memphis,TN Sanitation workers strike and the March on Washington speech...I tear up with emotional crying in their brilliance and verbal power!!!

Democrat, Joe Biden is an absolute 100% buffoon, idiot &
Amazing that any African-American votes for him (Biden)!!! MLK is without doubt, without challenge, a man of forever moron combined in one human being...”Him”!!!
destiny, a man, a God chosen human being for the ages..period!!! Shame on Biden and shame on the low life, useless, hate America, Democrat Party!!! God bless MLK!!!

No one filmed King’s assassination by an unseesn gunman to share with the world.

Floyd and his killer were captured on camera during all the long minutes it took to happen and around the world before the sun set.

Not surprising to me that the Floyd killing was explosive.

Does that mean that every city in the country will have a George Floyd Blvd?

He might be correct by the measure of damage done in the riots that followed. But the damage goes beyond what we can see today. The businesses and some of the burned neighborhoods are never going to come back. Business capital will go to other areas where the threat of being burned & looted is practically nil. So the jobs & services provided in those neighborhoods are gone. Those that can afford it will need to move out to the nearest suburban area that they an afford.

MLK was anyway replaced by the fictional icon of Malcolm X a few decades ago... The American Che Guevara.

That’s only because the communists/leftists/globalists are better organized world-wide and have more funding from very wealthy leftist “dreamers” of utopia.
