Martin Gugino the 75-year-old man who was shoved to the ground by Buffalo police in a video seen by millions is a long-time peace activist and gentle person, according to friends.
The resident of Amherst in Erie County is a member of the People United for Sustainable Housing Buffalo and anti-nuclear group Kings BayPlowshares, the Buffalo News reported.
Hes a gentle person who really believes that he must stand up for what he thinks is right, said Guginos pal Terrence Bisson. Thats why he went to the demonstration. He would never resist physically any kind of orders. Hes a bit frail, not because of his age. He has some health problems.
The two have worked together at the Western

That was a poor choice of words on my part. I can’t tell a crooked cop from an honest cop from looking at them.
I don’t know what ‘old man’ was doing, saying, or what his intentions were - or in what manner me may have conveyed those to the policemen.
Unless you were there, you don’t know either.
True.
I should have said :
He was holding the helmet in a way that drew the cops eyes towards it.
And then to play Devil’s advocate, I’ll suggest other possibilities:
Or he was holding the helmet that way because he thought the cop should be allowed to see what was in it. He is an old man who needs head protection when taking his daily walks to the senior center because the squirrels throw nuts at him.
Or he may be a Salvation Army volunteer who lost his kettle to looters and decided to bring his trusty biker’s helmet instead to hold it high, in hopes of getting a donation from those busy cops and catch the eye of that hot biker chick just off camera.
Or he thought one of the cops had dropped the helmet and wanted to return it to the rightful owner, if only he could wade right in to the formation and catch the owner’s attention.
He was insecure and afraid the peaceful protesters would steal his helmet off his bike so he was carrying it and his cell phone with him to the place on the sidewalk where police were the thickest.
Thats why he went to the demonstration. He would never resist physically any kind of orders.”
Bullsh*t. He was told to move back, and he ignored the cop. There is increasing evidence that the incident was staged. Look at close ups of his left hand, and right ear when he’s prone. It’s fairly clear that he had a squeeze bulb in his left hand, and a tube running to his ear. Also, notice how we haven’t heard a word about him since. The MSM would be all over this...
just watched it - he had a helmet in one hand and the hand that went toward the cop had a cell phone in it and seemed to be used as a pointer...the guy’s an idiot and totally lost his balance from the shove...bleeding out his ear a second after impact with the ground....don’t know what he said but the cop will probably regret the impulsive act...even though the shove was around center of mass and not intended to topple the guy.
Then he needs to work on his balance....

Lots of seasoned citizens have a similar problem. The live in a 75 year old body and their mind tells them they can perform the same as when their body was 30 years old.
Dude was prolly out protesting all day long, exhausted, hungry, and perhaps dehydrated. Therefore, NOT THINKING.
Dude confronts riot police and starts moving his hand around a police officers belt/pocket/holster. Police Officer shoves 75 year old dude away (Covid-6 feet!)
Dude stumbles backwards and falls on his back.
Why did Dude not break his fall with his arms???
Dude needed to save the cell phone in his right hand.
Dude had his helmet in his left hand, instead on putting helmet on his head.
Pro Tip, if you take your helmet to the protest, put your helmet on your head!
I just like to know everything,

That’s all well and good, but everyone who watched the video already knows the essential facts, which are that the elderly gentleman made the mistake of impeding a law officer carrying out his assigned duties, got knocked down for doing so, and injured his head when he fell.
We hear today that every man in the cop’s unit has resigned. That suggests to me that what went on was a little different than what we see in a few seconds of video.
Martin Gugino launched himself backwards with his legs in a move that is worthy of European soccer faking a penalty.
