Asphyxiation not the cause of George Floyd's death: Autopsy
The Washington Times ^ | Friday, May 29, 2020 | Valerie Richardson

Posted on 05/29/2020 1:55:38 PM PDT by Zhang Fei

George Floyd died Monday from a combination of preexisting health conditions exacerbated by being held down by Minneapolis officers, not from strangulation or asphyxiation, based on the medical examiner’s initial report.

Preliminary findings from a Tuesday autopsy conducted by the Hennepin County Medical Examiner found “no physical findings that support a diagnosis of traumatic asphyxiation or strangulation,” according to the criminal complaint filed Friday against former officer Derek Michael Chauvin.

“Mr. Floyd had underlying health conditions including coronary artery disease and hypertensive heart disease,” said the complaint from the Hennepin County Attorney. “The combined effects of Mr. Floyd being restrained by police, his underlying health conditions and any potential intoxicants in his system likely contributed to his death.”

The Minneapolis police officer fired earlier this week was charged Friday with third-degree murder and manslaughter after kneeling on Mr. Floyd’s neck for 8 minutes and 46 seconds. Video showed he was unresponsive for the last 2 minutes and 53 seconds.

“Police are trained that this type of restraint with a subject in a prone position is inherently dangerous,” the complaint said.

According to the filing, officers confronted Mr. Floyd after receiving a 911 call saying that he had paid for merchandise at Cup Foods with a phony $20 bill. They found him nearby in his vehicle with an adult male and female.

Mr. Floyd, who was six feet tall and weighed over 200 pounds, was handcuffed and led to the squad car, but resisted getting inside, saying he was claustrophobic.

While standing, he said repeatedly he couldn’t breathe. Mr. Floyd struggled as officers tried to force him into the car and fell to the ground. Two officers held him down while Officer Chauvin pressed his knee on the suspect’s neck.

Mr. Floyd said “I can’t breathe” multiple times, as well as

So, he was going to drop dead in the street that day, no matter what?

He was on the doorstep of imminent, spontaneous death and the cops has nothing to do with it?

Who would’ve known?

Yep! What I was telling everybody:

“The Hennepin County Medical Examiner (ME) conducted Mr. Floyd’s autopsy on May 26, 2020. The full report of the ME is pending but the ME has made the following preliminary findings. The autopsy revealed no physical findings that support a diagnosis of traumatic asphyxia or strangulation. Mr. Floyd had underlying health conditions including coronary artery disease and hypertensive heart disease. The combined effects of Mr. Floyd being restrained by the police, his underlying health conditions and any potential intoxicants in his system likely contributed to his death.”

You are wrong! They were holding down waiting for medical. The MPD just released new body cam video that shows medical was called very early in the encounter. Once they couldn’t get him in the car, they decided to wait for medical. He likely had a heart attack before the cops even got there.

If you shoot someone the second after they jump off the Golden Gate Bridge, you are charged with murder.

He was alive until the cop took a knee on his neck. Then he died.
This is a fact, and it is not in dispute.

So if I drive by someone on the street in a red station wagon and he drops dead, am I the cause of it? You could just as easily say: “Well, he was alive until that red station wagon drove by. Then he died. That is a fact, and it is not in dispute.”

“If your grandfather, or father had/has coronary artery disease and they died of a myocardial infarction or an arrhythmia when someone mugged them, wouldn’t you feel that the mugger was responsible for their death?”

Stick to your practice rather than trying to be an expert in something else. This was someone who broke the law being arrested, not a mugger committing a crime. By the way, do you ask your patients if they own a gun?

What part of What part of “preexisting health conditions exacerbated by being held down” don’t you understand? don’t you understand?

I understand every part except the part about “preexisting health conditions exacerbated by being held down”.

In the original German it would translate to, "I see nuth-THINK. I hear nuth-THINK. I know nuth-THINK!"

In most of these situations the perp is very large, drunk or on drugs, and uncooperative. Under those circumstances it’s hard for cops to control him, and he’s often prone to collapsing and even dying in the process.

Floyd’s death reminds me of many thousands of COVID 19 deaths.

Let see... Old, obese, has COPD, chronic heart disease, Nursing home resident and hemorrhoids.

Cause of Death? COVID 19. Gotta be that Wuhu Flu.

Same with Floyd. Career thug, obese, middle aged, drunk.

Cause of Death? Murdering Cop. Always the cops fault.

Was he with a hermaphrodite, or was he with two adults? Doesn't anyone proofread anymore? I would have said he "They found him nearby in his vehicle with an adult male and and an adult female."

With these findings it’s easy to imagine him being convicted of a charge that contains the word “negligent”...but nothing more serious. He’ll do prison time...but not 20 years.

These cops are innocent. The medical examiner could find no sign of suffocation, or of being choked. He also said that Floyd had health problems such as heart disease and high blood pressure. The medical examiner finished the autopsy BEFORE this became a big deal, and he found that he died of his heart problems, and not from being choked. The officers called for medical very early in the process. Floyd was having problems breathing for sure, but probably because he was having a heart attack. Ever seen or heard of someone being suffocated to death by only applying pressure to the back of the neck?

If you read the Statement of Probable Cause - here - it says that kneeling on his neck contributed to Floyd's death. In other words, Floyd may have keeled over with a coronary tomorrow, but four days ago he would not have died if the officer had not knelt on his neck for 8 or 9 minutes. Third degree murder charges are completely warranted.

“””””without the officer kneeling on his neck Floyd would not be dead.”””””””””””

Have you recently become a medical examiner?

What did the toxicology reports say? Oh that’s right, they aren’t released yet.

Was he overdosing on something?

His friends say he was just starting to turn his life around. Where have we heard that before? ( Every time a black guy gets in trouble)

It’s very possible he was having a heart attack before the police even got there. Even so, cops are allowed to hold you down if you break the law. It’s impossible to know how much pressure he was putting on the neck. Since you are a doctor you’ve heard of lot’s of cases of someone being strangled by only applying pressure to the back of the neck? I’ve had heart attacks and both times I had trouble breathing.

Have you seen where the family wants their own private autopsy?

Of course they do.

And no doubt the Crump race baiter will find the best ME out there. Who naturally will claim Floyd was choked to death. Pure and simple. Case closed.

The report says the cop kept his knee on the guy’s neck for 3 minutes AFTER the guy was unresponsive. It also says that when they checked he had no pulse. Sounds like he was dead to me. Manslaughter .

Third degree murder in Minnesota is defined as "Whoever, without intent to effect the death of any person, causes the death of another by perpetrating an act eminently dangerous to others and evincing a depraved mind, without regard for human life, is guilty of murder in the third degree and may be sentenced to imprisonment for not more than 25 years." 'Perpetrating an act eminently dangerous to other' is no different than 'negligent'.
