A black man says he asked a white woman in Central Park to put her dog on a leash.
Then, video shows her calling police and telling emergency operators that the man was threatening her and her dog. The woman, who has been identified as Amy Cooper, has apologized. But by Tuesday afternoon she was fired from her job at an investment management firm.
"Following our internal review of the incident in Central Park yesterday, we have made the decision to terminate the employee involved, effective immediately. We do not tolerate racism of any kind at Franklin Templeton," the company said in a statement posted to Twitter.
>>He had a perfect right to tell her that her dog should be leashed under the circumstances.
Yes he did, and he had the perfect right to walk away when he saw she was fucking nuts. He pushed the situation when he didn’t have to. He’s just as much a “Karen” as she is.
Please enlighten me, it wouldn’t be the first time I’ve been wrong.
It is merely my direct (thankfully second hand) experience with people being terminated merely because they brought embarrassment to their employer, but if you can point me to where the facts and circumstances indicate they couldn’t just let her go I’ll be duly grateful and a bot more informed.
Regards.
She was on the Democrat donor list for Obama in '12, so yes.
I personally know of two cases where a DUI resulted in a person being let go; one of them at a brokerage.
You are wrong. Dont just read the story. WATCH the video for yourself. In fact watch it twice. One listening to the voices and inflection. Watch her reaction.
Then watch a SECOND time please, only with eyes 100% on that dog. Never take your eyes off the poor dog until it chokes half to death, cries out and squeals as it is in pain having begged and struggled for balance, footing and air.
Yep. At one point she actually runs toward him, yelling at him, and he's saying, "Please don't come close to me." She really screwed up.
no proof of any of what you said.
To me, he even bragged about it on his facebook page
https://www.facebook.com/671885228/posts/10158742137255229/?d=n
and it looked like he was ready to dognap the dog to teach her a lesson
prove it was otherwise
Same here. He's all, "I'm gonna get you in trouble for not having your dog on a leash," and she's all "I'm gonna get you in trouble for recording me!" When Karens Collide (the one recording it wins). LOL!
You're totally wrong. Cocker spaniels consistantly rank in the top 10 of dogs that are biters.
It is his right to do so, but why does he choose to watch black birds? I’m not a fan of black birds and hate it when a group flies in and takes all the seed in my feeder.
LOL! Twenty-five years ago, that would be an SNL skit destined to become a classic!
Gosh. Someone who actually understands animals! and how to manage situations where they might be threatened by dogs who aren’t properly controlled by their owners.
I agree. And she definitely had a lot of nerve saying he was threatening her, when she was the one who ran up to him. He never budged off the path.
So, you think if your boss says, “Take me home to that beautiful wife of yours and let me have a go!”, then he’s entitled to fire you if you say no?
Heck, at the beginning of the video she was running toward him! She was more threatening than he was.
This woman is stupid not racist. So her employer firing her for a stupid non criminal action while she was not working is equally stupid. I suspect they may have been looking for a reason to get rid of one of their more wacky employees without exposing themselves to a EEO suit for canning a female employee and this pretext was as good as any.
Kind of, but the fact that all she has to do to remove the threat is grab/leash the dog (which she did) really mitigates that. He never took a step in her direction, and she actually ran at HIM. Her behavior was more threatening than his was.
We’re not arguing. I’m arguing. You’re rationalizing.
...and if you don’t like that, I may have to do something that you don’t like.
Good summary. And you know, even if she hadn't made the remarks about his color, the fact that she called the police on him and pretended she was under attack by a man who was standing there not moving a step in her direction... that's a liberal for sure. "You have confronted me and made me uncomfortable! I'll have you arrested for that!"
I wonder what happened after the recording ended. Did the police show up? I'd love to hear more of this story.
