The economy has gone from President Donald Trump's greatest political asset to perhaps his biggest weakness.
Unemployment is spiking at an unprecedented rate. Consumer spending is vanishing. And GDP is collapsing. History shows that dreadful economic trends like these spell doom for sitting presidents seeking reelection.
The coronavirus recession will cause Trump to suffer a "historic defeat" in November, a national election model released Wednesday by Oxford Economics predicted.
The model, which uses unemployment, disposable income and inflation to forecast election results, predicts that Trump will lose in a landslide, capturing just 35% of the popular vote. That's a sharp reversal from the model's pre-crisis prediction that Trump would win about 55% of the vote. And it would be the worst performance for an incumbent in a century.

Yep. This is classic horse vs. water problem. You can reopen businesses but you cannot force customers to resume their 2019 shopping habits. Most businesses do not have the kind of margin that allows them to stay open with a fraction of their usual customer base, so many businesses will fail even after the shutdowns are lifted.
I felt that it was probably better to keep it within the last 90 years.
They may be open but are they attracting customers in the same numbers as in 2019? Fewer customers = lower revenue. Lower revenue + same expenses = bankrupt business.

It will be horrendous fraud that will cause the President to lose, NOT the economy.
Before CV I predicted that President Trump would win in November by a landslide. I still believe that the odds are in Trump's favor but I can also picture a few scenarios in which Trump loses, not all of which involve voter fraud. Trump says a lot of stuff that looks bad when reported by the media. A bad gaffe in October could tip the balance. Also, many Americans, rightly or wrongly, attribute a good or bad economy to the President and don't necessarily think of their state governors when they vote for President.
Yesterday he DECIMATED all regulations throughout the entire government agencies this alone will make businesses BOOM!!

It all depends on how the voters view it. If they blame Trump, then yes, he is gone. How can a rational voter blame Trump for something he did not cause? The dems are going to pull out all the stops to blame Trump for every single death and the economy. I’ve already heard many references to the depression already. I think this election is going to be absolutely the most slimey we have ever seen. Good thing that Trump can dish it back.

I have read that when voters hear a criticism about a candidate, they tend to believe it if there is no response. So. thankfully, we have a candidate who not only responds but goes on offense.

No one said we don’t have a difficult path but we have the best guy at the helm and even if some businesses fail new ones will open. In the restaurant business there is a high turnover. A restaurant folds & starts again sans debt with a new name.
There is no choice but to move forward. I posted the link because codetoad said nothing was happening. It is happening and like a baby grows to a child and then a man these small beginnings will become a roaring economy in a shorter time than with any other President.

This story and many polls like it will be published by the Lame Stream Media between now and November in hopes of laying the ground work for stealing the election. If we the people keep pushing back and calling their BS they will not take that chance.(think CW II)
