COLUMBUS, Ohio (WJW) Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine says customers not required to wear masks in retail settings when stores are permitted to reopen from the coronavirus shutdown on May 12.
While it is not a mandate, it remains a strong recommendation, the governor said during his news conference on Tuesday. He said the original order was intended to protect store workers, especially since so many carrying the virus are asymptomatic.
So its for the protection of these employees, the people that are serving us every day, DeWine said. It gives added protection to others. When you wear a mask, you protect those around you from setting sick.
DeWine said he received a lot of feedback, some concerned about loved ones working in stores and others who considered required masks offensive. He also spoke to the mother of a young boy with autism and the difficulties of getting him to wear a mask.
Ohio Department of Health Director Dr. Amy Acton has frequently referred to masks as another layer of Swiss cheese, which combined with social distancing and the stay-at-home order, offer more protection from COVID-19.
For how long? They keep saying wear masks. But they never say when the mask wearing will end.
As it should be.
Still mandatory here in the People’s Republic of Tommie Wolf.
Masks work. No they don’t. Yes they do. No they don’t.
B’ham AL has just made it MANDATORY. $500 fine 30 days jail.
Cash grab.
I think there is an old statute that says wearing one in public is illegal. Klan days.
So much of this is about causing people to think they have to do stuff. I’ve not changed my habits at all during this except where the place I would go is closed. I don’t even abide by the six foot nonsense when at stores.
I consider it the patriotic thing to do.
That will only lead to some ugly confrontations.
Wearing a cotton bandanna or homemade mask out in public does not protect anyone from COVID or any virus. IF people were truly concerned about all the cooties floating around, they would have been told to wear a bandanna long ago...Swine flu, SARS, and the real killer in all this, Pneumonia... or all that crap sprayed on us from the sky on a daily basis. A mask wouldn’t have helped then and it won’t help now.
Most humans have a good immune system designed for survival even from a scamplannedemic. Compliance with any mask mandate/recommendation is to prove your rate of Cognitive Dissonance with cooperating with this proven BS. I did not wear a mask before COVID, and will not do it now. It gives me the Vapors if I cover my lovely countenance, so does that count as a medical reason for non-compliance? Will the FRightened Ones report me for my instransigence???
It’s mandatory in Michigan for those who can medically tolerate a mask. I’m allergic to stupidity, so I don’t wear one.
Bottom line - If you buy into a hoax at any level, you are still buying into a hoax even if there are parts of it that may be true. People are dying, just like they always have. From what exactly is the question and whether it is from a single cause from a single source as we have been led to believe from the get-go and whether this is in excess of mortality counts in the past. The ever expanding list of symptoms/non-symptoms and illness/non-illness is setting us up to accept whatever these “test swabs” results declare. JUst a reminder that anyone who has had a flu shot in the past is going to test positive whether you are symptomatic or not. TPTB don’t care about that. This Lockdown needs to continue for a good long while, which will be accomplished through numerous short-term EO extensions from Governors, including spineless RINOS.
"My mask protects you
Your mask protects me"
You could sing that to the tune of the "Barney" theme song.
They think we are preschoolers!
Glad to hear that. Weren’t you impressed with our fearless Republican Legislature to beg the Dragon Queen to lighten up a bit.
Sarcasm, right?
Marking is dog-whistle obedience training.
Unless the stores get some kind of liability protection from the state and Fedzilla, stores will insist on masks. All this gutless wonder is doing is making the stores the bad guys.
If the stores decide to do it, though, I can understand why.
I don’t normally disagree with former US Attorney Andrew McCarthy but this morning he said something which made me go ... Huh!?
The host (Harris Faulkner) asked about states, their mayors and governors who overstep their authority when it comes to the constitution.
McCarthy said that “If there is good reason to enact a law against a viable threat and that it is shown that this law would help protect the general public then that would be okay!”
REALLY ANDY?
What if I as a mayor or governor of a state ... Hell, what if I were President and could show that guns are a threat to the health of the general public then ... It’s okay to enact a law to confiscate everyone’s guns!?
As I said, I don’t normally disagree with ....
I did not wear one today, again.
