New York (CNN Business)Tyson Foods (TSN) is warning that "millions of pounds of meat" will disappear from the supply chain as the coronavirus pandemic pushes food processing plants to close, leading to product shortages in grocery stores across the country. "The food supply chain is breaking," wrote board chairman John Tyson in a full-page advertisement published Sunday in The New York Times, Washington Post and Arkansas Democrat-Gazette.
US farmers don't have anywhere to sell their livestock, he said, adding that "millions of animals chickens, pigs and cattle will be depopulated because of the closure of our processing facilities." "There will be limited supply of our products available in grocery stores until we are able to reopen our facilities that are currently closed," Tyson wrote.

I haven't looked, but I am sure there are YouTube videos on how to kill and gut chickens, pigs and cows.
And on how to pluck chickens, scald and skin hogs, skin cows, etc.
And on how to butcher, cutting up all of the above.
Instead of trucking critters to slaughterhouses and food processors, truck them to cities and towns.
Require folks to watch the videos on how to do it, sell the critters to them directly and they have at it.
The freshest of meat, maybe cheaper.
City, suburban, and townsfolks get to learn more of where their food comes from.
A great homeschooling opportunity.
Families can split up a hog or cow.
Fowl are no problem, small enough.
He’s allowing the policies of Birx to shape every decision he’s making! He’s providing zero leadership here!
And he has the balls to go after Gov. Kemp for looking after his people who are suffering due to Birx and Fauci!
We expected the food supply to get pinched. No surprise here.
Think of it as a REALLY BIG buck, eh?
“Its all part of the plan.”
Exactly. They’ve mobilized their army of bureaucrats and they’re all working from home getting paid.
lolol
CNN/WaPo/NYT and Tyson conspiring to create panic (why the F does it need to be a ‘full page ad’ even if it were true. This is purely political) and a bunch of freepers already blaming Trump ? Unbelievable. What ingrates. After all that Trump has done.
Apparently few people know or let on they know about the close ties between John Tyson and the Clintons. Does anyone think a very good friend and donor of Bill and Hillary is going to do or say ANYTHING to help right now?
I just searched on YouTube, and there are many videos on how do all of this.
Food riots start in 3, 2, 1.
Nope. It is the inevitable result of “pointy headed bureaucrats” telling businesses what they can and cannot do. It is gvt officials with no real world experience deciding what’s essential and what is not.
No malice or evil intention needed. In fact, this can be done with the very best and self-sacrificing motives one could possible imagine. There is no difference. Put sincere, sweet, pointy heads in charge of production and prices and this is the inevitable result, every single time.
They are trolls.
Yep. The elites are in their well stocked bunkers with their own security teams.
“BTW - I will point out, again, to the fearbros that this is exactly what would happen if we did the shutdown.”
Who ordered Tyson to shut their plants?
And if he doesnt and the flu deaths get worse (and they will - its basic science) you and the other Dems will be the first to jump up and call Trump a murderer.
I honestly don’t know about that. My understanding is that part of the problem is a available space. A lot of places are on an on-demand model of storage. They store as much as they need, not as much as they can. So stock us bred continuously and moves continuously through the system. Demand drops, there’s a glut of stock, but you only can keep so much because, under normal circumstances move more down the line (to proccessing) than you can keep. Where do you put them? How much will that cost? Etc.
But I’m not a rancher, so I’m only relaying it as I understand it from folks calling into shows. Maybe producers have that problem licked. If I’m in gross error, as I expect I am, I’m sure to hear from knowledgeable FReepers like yourselves about it!
Good Idea. Set up wet markets in the cities.
Nobody - Tyson is responding to a handful of infections in their plants which is scaring the rest of the factory workers so theyre just not showing up. Nd why should they? They get paid more to be unemployed.
