New York (CNN Business)Tyson Foods (TSN) is warning that "millions of pounds of meat" will disappear from the supply chain as the coronavirus pandemic pushes food processing plants to close, leading to product shortages in grocery stores across the country. "The food supply chain is breaking," wrote board chairman John Tyson in a full-page advertisement published Sunday in The New York Times, Washington Post and Arkansas Democrat-Gazette.
US farmers don't have anywhere to sell their livestock, he said, adding that "millions of animals chickens, pigs and cattle will be depopulated because of the closure of our processing facilities." "There will be limited supply of our products available in grocery stores until we are able to reopen our facilities that are currently closed," Tyson wrote.

He’s got a Twitter account with almost 80 million followers.
There are better ways to use it than what we saw this weekend.
That is all I am saying.
Someone is really trying to push this “meat shortage” story...
I don’t buy it whatsoever.
Its time to panic!
I’m going to start storing my urine in case I need to drink it because there will be no water from the tap.
I’ll have to start hunting mice and rats for food.
We’re all gonna have to be armed to the teeth and be ready to shoot the first person that comes in the front door...
Story does not address at all the fact that demand from restaurants has fallen dramatically. It’s still out there somewhere.
Yes it does.
GREAT DEPRESSION 2. SENIORS, low income, children hit hardest. Great Depression under FDR people SOLD the Children they could not feed.
From what I can garner Smithfield was acquired by the Shangui group for 5-7 billion dollars an over market price that might have been backed by the Chinese Government. Although I believe I heard that Tyson is also owned (this from the White House) I cannot independently verify it at this time.

That is not to say that Tyson does not have an incestuous relationship with the Chinese as the Chinese market has enticed them into opening meat processing plants over there.
Also rules have changed to allow some Chinese meat to enter the US processing. Again independent verification is hard to find as Tyson isn’t informative. And the question is the Chinese Subsidiary ‘tail’ wagging the Tyson’dog’? And with Hillary Clinton on their board...well you figure it out.

No I think I will stand by this post for now. I will look into it tonight when I have time.
Hang tough, you’ll be able to vote for biden soon.
...or raises public sensitivity to climate change.
With the corrupt lying media and the deranged insane Dems, Trump cannot afford any unforced errors. The media needs to be neutralized, I think a short update press conference and some beneficial news, then out the door, no questions from the nasty media. The media will be asked to submit one or two questions and those deserving of a response will be handled that day and posted on the website.
CARGILL TOO.
Complain to that trucking site, about the incorrect numbers. I only copied their article.
Regarding Tyson only having a couple of people get sick.... why shut down an entire plant, or break the food chain supply (per Tyson CEO), over just a few sick employees??
Why arent grocery stores and hospitals closing over a few sick employees?
Why just these meat plants?
Perhaps (hopefully) your trucker friend can help answer that. Has he seen a slow down of trucking, overall? Just curious what theyre seeing, out there.
Thanks.
Fake News is really upset, why are you upset?
Perhaps it is. However, I think it is probably more likely to be a media disinformation campaign designed to get Americans to panic buy.
Last night we had a phone call from relative in midwest near packing plants that have had to close due to a COVID19 outbreak. He said the press is distorting what closing means. They are just down for the time it takes to sanitize the plants and reorganize the lines to accommodate social distancing. The plants are also hiring replacement workers in huge numbers. He said the locals expect the plants to be up and running again in two weeks.
12 PLANTS CLOSED meat contaminated, speaks 40 langues, just not ENGLISH.
What exactly do you propose he do?
Override the county health officials and force the plants to open, without having been cleaned, with sick employees or untrained ones? Because lots of untrained ‘new’ employees would want the virus. And catastrophic amputations as well...because hey, untrained.
Do you want to buy food processed by people that are sick with this?
it’s not just the meat plants either:

How much profit does one get from a closed plant ?
It wasn’t just a few workers. some of these plants have had HUNDREDS of workers out sick.
Try operating a business with hundreds of your employees at a single job site out (tested positive) sick.
Good luck!
And when the new workers get sick as well?
This will be an ongoing thing until we get herd immunity to this.
It’s not a ‘get trump’ or ‘panic america’ thing. It’s a result of people getting herd immunity in bits and pieces.
