Church bells chime on the hour still somewhere

People could pace their life by church bells in the past, before time-pieces were ubiquitous. The call to prayer once a day probably made sense when people didn't have watches (or cell-phones), but the religion of peace and brotherhood can't abide with any dismissiveness.

I can easily imagine the frequency of the calls to prayer increased over the centuries as frenetic imams feared loss of power. Now, at six times a day, it's brainwashing, and at the same time it's in your face arrogance. Their adherents have watches and cell phones with alarms; there's no need for loudspeakers at all. Signaling their own that way is rude, disrespectful, and I'm sure it's done sometimes with antagonism in mind.

But, that's Islam.
