The Muslim call to prayer, known as the adhan, will echo from loudspeakers through parts of Minneapolis five times per day for the entirety of Ramadan in what is believed the be the first time the Islamic call has been publicly broadcast in a major U.S. city.
Al Jazeera reports:
Recited by different representatives from mosques around the city, the call to prayer is expected to reach thousands in the Cedar-Riverside neighbourhood in Minneapolis, according to Jaylani Hussein, the executive director of Minnesota's Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR).

but at the moment I’m not happy to hear of this. The non muslim kids that will grow up thinking this is normal for the use, etc. so many reasons this is bad.
My guess is that those “freedom from religion” agitators who go crazy at any Christian symbol will have no problem with Islamic prayers being blasted throughout the city day and night.

It was very annoying to heat that constantly in Jerusalem when I visited Israel last fall. The local government worked out a deal with the Muslims that they had to drop the first one (too early) and the last one (too late).
I give Islam credit, though, for valuing and honoring their religion. Christians could have annoying calls to prayer too, although I doubt Jesus would have been in favor of an activity that is constantly annoying to one’s fellow humans.

The Cedar Riverside area is not in Minnesota. It is part of Minneapolistan and should require a passport for entry.
I believe that this was done several years ago in Hamtramck, Michigan which is a little island city surrounded by the city of Deetroit. Don’t know if its still happening there. I would expect it to be in Dearbornistan, MI as well.
