Pelosi WARNS Trump?

What?

Then she flies OUR airplane/bar (well stocked by taxpayer money) back to CA until May or June sometime?

Can’t the Minority Leader open the house for business as the leader is absent?

He should do it!

I hear that there is a missing broom in the janitors area on the house of reps side of the capitol building. Nancy had to fly quickly back to her district in SF, and couldn’t wait for a flight

Why is ONE person allowed to completely close down 1/2 of one of the three branches of government?

That is too much power for one person to have.

If congress is not in session, Trump is free to make interim appointments and go on with the business of the country.

I like this idea. Keep congress on lock down.

Even better, put many of them in the “Lock Up.”

“and in Case of Disagreement between them, with Respect to the Time of Adjournment, he may adjourn them to such Time as he shall think proper;”

I never knew that wording was in there!!!

I like it.

Per Wiki

Congress has delegated at least 136 distinct statutory emergency powers to the President, each available upon the declaration of an emergency. Only 13 of these require a declaration from Congress; the remaining 123 are assumed by an executive declaration with no further Congressional input.[16] Congressionally-authorized emergency presidential powers are sweeping and dramatic and range from seizing control of the internet to declaring martial law.[15].

This lead the american magazine The Atlantic to observe that "the misuse of emergency powers is a standard gambit among leaders attempting to consolidate power."[15], because, in the words of Justice Robert H. Jackson’s dissent in Korematsu v. United States, the 1944 Supreme Court decision that upheld the internment of Japanese Americans, each emergency power “lies about like a loaded weapon, ready for the hand of any authority that can bring forward a plausible claim of an urgent need.”[15]

Yes he can if it involves federal operations.

Maybe. But that's a small part of the economy in most areas.

Lot’s of Rep governors will want to reopen. TX is getting to start reopening next week.

Some Republican governors have refused to shut down altogether. Nothing stops them from doing that. Lots of other governors have closed things down and Trump can't override them.

I hate to tell Nancy Pelosi this... The president has Constitutional power to convene and recess Congress during emergency situations. Be funny if he called them into session and told them not to adjourn until they did something useful...

Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi told Politico Friday that she is considering keeping the House of Representatives out of session longer than the April 20th return-from-recess date, and may not bring Congress back until well into May — and she’s warned President Donald Trump to keep the country under lockdown even longer.

Every death is going to be charged against Trump and the GOP.

That is why that dingbat from Michigan was talking about charging Trump with crimes against humanity.

And we haven’t hit the peak yet. Just wait till the Dems get the real numbers out of NYC

Trump says he has the authority to override them in a national emergency, but chooses not to because he believes in federalism and the Constitution. He has said that repeatedly at the daily briefings.

We have seen this before with Lincoln, Truman, Eisenhower, and LBJ when the Supremacy clause of the Constitution is invoked against the States, unions, and private companies. No doubt SCOTUS would get involved in any dispute.

If federalism and the Constitution gives that authority to the governors, as the President has said, then he can't override them. Trump has said on numerous occasions that responsibility for fighting this lies with the states. Leave it there.

DOJ is getting involved in the ban on religious services in some states and there have been other Constitutional challenges to some States’ lockdown procedures.
