"Trump ruined our economy and all for naught!" "Trump and his capitalism put millions out of work for nothing!"
If you haven't already heard this from the "mainstream media" (AKA "fake news"), you soon will. Fake news media, doing the bidding of their leftist and Democrat masters, have been trying to destroy Donald Trump with hoaxes since he announced his candidacy, or maybe ever since Trump first questioned Barack Obama's claim of being born in the U.S. The fake news first claimed that President Trump overreacted to COVID-19, then Trump was belittling COVID-19 and ignoring the experts, then Trump didn't act fast enough, and soon the fake news media will come full circle to proclaim that Trump hyped it all up and shut down the U.S. economy for nothing. For once, will the fake news media report something real? Will this be a scandal with some weight of truth, eating into the base that never bought the prior hoaxes?
As an expert in computer modeling and simulation, with some familiarity in epidemiology, I can assure you that the computer models upon which Trump has based his policies are absolute bunk. The real-world data from Wuhan (however much you want to believe it) and the Diamond Princess and other countries and cruise ships suggest that COVID-19 kills more of the people it infects (0.5% vs. 0.1%) but infects far fewer people than influenza (3% vs. 15%). There might have been 50,000 deaths in the U.S. if we had done absolutely nothing. The fake news media will have plenty of experts to back that up, and they will be reinforced with the final numbers, which might not even top 20,000, including the exaggerations.

I used to have some respect for American Thinker, but their coverage of the coronavirus pandemic has been appalling. Theyre on my sh!t list now.
______
I agree. Horrible coverage and opinion. Will never screw with this rag again.
Let’s get back to normal next week.
He writes,’... but(covid) infects far fewer people than influenza (3% vs. 15%)’.
That may be accurate if all things were equal between the flu and covid, but the covid number is with all of the mitigation we have done. What would the number be and practically speaking how would have it played out if there was no mitigation? I think we got a glimpse by looking at a congested area like New York. And that probably would have been what more areas looked like if nothing was done. And perhaps then there would have been the same mitigation done except after many, many more were infected.
Trump did the right, courageous thing and the more (especially at places like FR) that buy into the spin that undoubtedly will now surface, the less the chances of Trump winning in November.
Read the whole article. He lays the blame at the feet of the Dems, not Trump. Still a poorly written article. Sounds more like ramblings that a reasoned opinion.
And when trump says everybody back to work the left will scream Trump wants us all dead the pandemic is not over all for Exxon and Boeing profits
I think Ted Nugent hit the nail on the head. China introduced germ warfare causing the economy to crash as they bought cheap investments in the USA. They’re out to control us without a bullet being fired.
Read the article, the author lays this at the feet of the Dems.
TOTALLY agree. American Thinker - at least on this topic - has become a total and complete joke.
the left hires professional propagandists and ONLY speaks in readily absorbed soundbites, true or not.
Our politicians, at our request, ruined our economy. And it isn’t just the US. It is the world. This is the black swan. This is the one many were predicting would be worse than the credit crunch And it is here. We’re just not feeling it full force, like a person with stage 4 terminal cancer that feels “a bit off”.

Did you read the entire article or just the excerpt? Later in the article, the author said that the Trump guidelines were not the “economy killer”, rather he lays the blame on governors (mostly Democrat” who decided to play “I can be a bigger Nazi than you can”. His more important point is that even Fauci doesn’t believe in the models he references, but rammed them down Trump’s and our throats anyway. There are plenty of credible medical scientists who who seriously question the models which now are threatening to extinguish constitutional liberties and prosperity. However, they are hectored by statists everywhere. Sadly there seem to be quite a few statists here.
One parting thought: Almost all scientists attached to academia and government are leftists. Change my mind.
And ran for the bunkers and let the governments take control of every asset of our lives.
Do these people get paid by the word?
Who wrote the art of the comeback? Whod you rather have? Trump or demented Joe
This animated graph will show you why we are screwed.

Governors because state medical capacities have been up to them. Trying to stay one step ahead of the lynch mobs.
When President Trump announces it is time to go back to work the media will shift and claim it is too soon and he is putting people at risk.
My take on the situation is that we (the nation, the government) needed time. The only way to slow the spread of the virus until we were better prepared to handled it was to build a fire break, removing fuel for the virus to spread. By encouraging people to stay home and not go out created such a fire break.
I suspect that the stay at home orders will soon be lifted with advice that we maintain a social distance, wear mask, wash hands often.
These measures will be dropped as the virus runs it’s course and medication becomes available.
Prediction - when someone calls in sick no one will question it.

The guy is working his @ss of for us.
Most of the jobs will return. We really won’t know the exact impact to jobs lost until the states and big cities start opening up again.
The governors closed the states. Some of them are still open
