Ilya from Michigan writes . . .
If youd have met me three weeks ago, youd unequivocally know my stance on guns. I was not only against the ownership of AR-15s, I was in the minority of folks who thought all private gun ownership should be illegal.
Fast forward to today: I own a GLOCK 19 Gen5.
Im still in a bit of disbelief that there is a dangerous weapon in my house: one that more frequently contributes to accidental deaths, violent homicides, and suicides, rather than the romanticized personal protection experiences.
What happened? The world changed overnight and my opinion evolved.
Ive always been a strongly opinionated person, but I pride myself on the idea that my beliefs are loosely held. Strong opinions are great, but what you dont want is to be egotistically blinded by them. I dont want to be held hostage by a belief that is no longer valid, given new information. My views before
I live a pretty privileged existence. My family lives in one of the most affluent communities in Michigan. Everyone in the neighborhood leaves their doors open with bikes on the front lawn. Rarely do we worry about anything being stolen, let alone violent crime. I wasnt born with this privilege, but worked really hard to get where I am.
Circumstances shape peoples understanding of the world, and my situation highly influenced my views on gun ownership. There was no argument, be it constitutional, personal protection, safety, hunting, or anything else that would change my mind and stop me from logically deconstructing your argument.

Ok - I read the article.
It finally dawned on her that she might one day dial 911 and no one would answer.
She has a very high opinion of herself but in fact is not the sharpest tool in the shed.
Glock 19 conceals fine during the winter for normal sized people and always for the bigguns. Love mine. Now that I’ve lost 100 pounds, I personally use the Sig P325 with the 12 round mag in the gun a 15 round mag on the belt. 27 rounds of 9mm from a subcompact...simply amazing. The Springfield Hellcat is also fantastic...would have one if I didn’t already have the P365. I almost broke down and got the Hellcat last week, but picked up a Sig X5 Legion instead.
DO NOT TOUCH THAT WEAPON UNTIL YOU HAVE SOMEONE FAMILIARIZE YOU WITH IT! And never go looking for the intruder with your lack of training. Seclude yourself in locked room and call 911.
And as the government takes more and more control over our lives, maybe she will understand the true meaning of the 2nd Amendment.
They are afraid of them or never used one. I always let liberals hold mine while unloaded. It’s like petting a big dog. Changes them instantly in many cases.
The same is true about Democrats and capitalism. Democrats love jobs. They just hate business.
Good God what a pathetic assemblage of overwrought, pseudo-intellectual BS Twaddle. On Steroids.
LOL!!
“Im still in a bit of disbelief that there is a dangerous weapon in my house: one that more frequently contributes to accidental deaths, violent homicides, and suicides, rather than the romanticized personal protection experiences.”
She’s still stupid and still believing lies.
Maybe now she’ll start to look at valid statistics.
Here’s a start: over 500,000 times a year the presence of a firearm prevents a felony. A large majority of those issues involves women protecting themselves from an abusive ex-husband/boyfriend. FBI stats.
But the people who feed this woman her information leave that info out.
The opposite's true where I am in Maryland. They shut down all the indoor ranges (including mine), but I spent a great day today on an outdoor range.
G19 gen 5. Good choice. Will last a lifetime. Im saving up for the g45 which is 9mm. I have a G48 which is awesome.
I had a nice gen 5 17 with night sights. Regret selling that.
My nightstand gun currently is a Berreta Storm like Jim often displays. Had a nice trigger job and is decock only now. Has a nice light and twenty round mags.
Whatever you get, practice.

Be patient friend, your $1200 check is on the way.
A Glock wouldn’t have been my first choice for a guy like that. Or my second....or third...or fourth...
I’ll be buying a lot of guns and ammo from these clowns in the future....
Cheap...
While everybody was out there panic buying toilet paper a few weeks ago, I went to Shoots Straight in the middle of the day, to enhance my ammo collection, I couldnt believe how many people were buying their first weapon! You couldnt have fallen down there were so many people! Stood in line for over 20 minutes to get checked out! Arm up!
Gun safety classes are closed.
Really cannot stomach libtards rationalizing doing the correct thing still believing it’s awful for all ofmus to fe able to do it, and not just them.
His clarifier, i wasn’t born with this privilege but worked really hard to get it.
Thats how almost everyone gets it, libtard moron. But he’s freaking special.
Expanding on your point, many anti gun people don’t want you to have guns, precisely because it may make you less likely to be intimidated into compliance with their future plans.
Surprisingly enough, I can hide my Beretta 92FS.
