Whatever happened to Dan Quayle?
The Washington Times ^ | March 25, 2020 | Cal Thomas

Posted on 03/26/2020 8:44:26 PM PDT by CheshireTheCat

He was the 44th vice president of the United States in the George H.W. Bush administration, but for the last 20 years, Dan Quayle has stayed mostly away from the unfriendly glare of political life.

I called him to get his thoughts on the coronavirus and the current political scene.

On the virus and the approach to it by the Trump administration, Mr. Quayle said, “I think they’re doing a very good job. They know what they’re doing.” Echoing President Trump’s optimism, he, too, is optimistic about what comes after the virus is defeated: “We’ll get back to where we were … I don’t think it will be a V-shape recovery as many people are (saying). It will probably be more like a U-shape recovery, which will take a little longer.”

True. Though the media and pop culture savaged him in the most vicious way. The “potatoe” thing was just beyond ludicrous. I was a teenager during the GHW Bush administration and supported and voted for them if only because the lying, fake media and pop culture was so deranged in their hatred.

Regan?

He was Bush senior’s VP, thus a one termer.

For some reason Priebus reminds me of him (negatively).

One reason GHW Bush won by such landslide proportions in 1988, coming close to matching Reagan in ‘84, was because he had the ruthless Lee Atwater in charge of the show. Atwater’s untimely death left GHW Bush utterly adrift. Atwater would’ve filleted Bubba the Rapist and his sociopathic, megalomaniacal partner-in-crime. Trump was the first Republican leader since Atwater who fought back, and twice as hard.

It truly exposed how gutless our so-called party leaders were for decades. Every time a leftist mediathug would say, “BOO !”, they would pee their underpants and go hide behind a chair. Just appalling.

Ben did win in 2010. The “independent” (read: Demonrat) redistricting board put him in with another Republican for 2012 and he lost renomination. He was considered rather subpar to mediocre during that single term.

Oh. Thanks for the correction. I just know I haven’t heard anything about him since the Obama Era.

I think they go all out when an R is in office but sometimes mellow to them when they are out. They really love them when they help attack an R in office. Then they become reasonable Rs.

Cal Thomas, writer of this article, used to be a member of 4th Presbyterian Church, when he lived in the DC area. Quayle attended 4th Pres, when he was VP.

4th Presbyterian is a conservative evangelical church, part of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church denomination, and the church I grew up in. I know Cal by sight, and used to greet him at church. He’d often bring his friend, liberal Bob Beckel (used to be on Fox, before they kicked him off....). Beckel became a Christian because of Cal Thomas reaching out to him. One policy Cal always had though, he adamantly refused to discuss politics at Church!

I believe Cal Thomas is retired in Florida now.

The spelling for potato was regional.

The only way to win would be to counter attack and make fun of the people who brought the whole goofy thing up and not let the mockery go.

Finally we have a president who understands the correct way to deal with what was done to Quayle.

He should have taken himself out in 92’. Not ready for prime time and the MSM got him just like they did Sarah.

The MSM will trash anyone who is not the most leftist Democrat running.

The MSM Publicists determine who is "ready for Prime Time."

Bill Clinton
Hillary Clinton
Joe Biden
Bernie Sanders
AOC
Jeffrey Epstein
Harvey Weinstein
Nancy Pelosi
Nadler
Adam Schiff

All either totally corrupt, vile, evil and/or incompetent, yet the MSM has in the past or currently anointed them as "Prime Time".

Yes, the much vaunted ‘mavericks’ the press loves so... the John McCain’s of the world.

Ever notice there’s never been a loved and oft quoted democrat maverick?

He should have taken himself out in 92’. Not ready for prime time and the MSM got him just like they did Sarah. At least he went down fighting.

The whole world owes this fine man an apology starting with Murphy Brown. Quayle was not afraid to say all aspects of our nation rest on the foundation of "family values". HE was right then and he's right now....we have the lowest birth rate in our history and the number of US children born to single parents is highest on the planet. Numbers that spell doom to a society that has voted itself 90 trillion dollars worth of freebies in the near future.

Dan Quayle let me apologize to you on behalf of those scum bag Hollywood heretics.

A terrible mistake that Reagan ever picked him for VP in the first place in 1980.

Reagan didn't want Bush. Bush was foisted upon him by GOPe so Bush could "moderate" Reagan's "extremist tendencies." Reagan relented in order to gain the support of GOPe for the nomination. GOPe in general and the Bushes in particular have been a pox upon this nation.

Sr. Bush used him as a hatchet man to gut the hypersonic effort in this country. We have never really recovered from that. I suspect Bill and Cabbage ass helped the Russians in their efforts in recent time.

As I’ve said many times, Reagan should’ve picked Sen. Paul Laxalt, who was an actual Conservative. If Sr. Bush was to be in the administration, let him serve as Sec of State for two years and then be rid of him. All he and his son have done is paved the way for two of the most corrupt regimes in the history of the country, that of Bubba the Rapist and Emperor Zero.

Don’t forget Andrew Gillum in Florida, the closet fag & meth candidate. Or Buttgiggity, the other fag who was raised a Stalinist. The more of a lying, leftist degenerate and sociopath, the more the media will love you (because they themselves are lying, leftist degenerates and sociopaths).
