As the number of cases has expanded, the mortality rate has declined. It will likely decline even further if and when those without symptoms can be diagnosed and counted.
US #CoronaVirusDeathRate by date:
4.06% March 8 (22 deaths of 541 cases)
3.69% March 9 (26 of 704)
3.01% March 10 (30 of 994)
2.95% March 11 (38 of 1,295)
2.52% March 12 (42 of 1,695)
2.27% March 13 (49 of 2,247)
1.93% March 14 (57 of 2,954)
1.84% March 15 (68 of 3,680)

It makes total sense. Better/more testing has revealed cases that wouldn’t have been noticed otherwise. So “number of cases has expanded” — of course. “Mortality rate has declined” because, even though it’s “a thing”, it isn’t as dangerous as the media hoped it would be.
And, if necessary, they’ll be saying that flu deaths were Wuhan to help the narrative. How would we know any different?
Last Friday, I visited two friends from France living in the US. They were in abject panic about the coronavirus. They get their information from Europe. They're convinced that the Black Death is upon us and that President Trump is personally spraying everyone with the virus. They very politely suggested that I not come back to visit until this blows over. I think they shoved the furniture up against the doors after I left.
Exactly. Keep adding the hidden cases to the denominator and of course the fraction shrinks.
I would think that a series of longitudinal studies of daily or weekly groups of 100 or 1,000 new cases would indeed be beneficial to understanding this disease.
Highly exaggerated! I think the low end estImate is always more realistic - and a more probable outcome.
Theres no need to panic.
Amen
Every doctor has said this. We’ve been looking at the tip of the iceberg for a while. South Korea is the better model than Italy to look at and this is exactly what we’re seeing.
To keep things in perspective, 2 months into the
H1N1 (Swine Flu) pandemic, 1,000 Americans had already died.
Remember this is the same NY Times that are calling this the Trump virus.
So put things in perspective.
The CDC is worthless!
They just come up with all sorts of scenarios to cover their butts.
The numbers do not indicate what the FAKE STREAM NEWS IS CLAIMING.
It’ is TOTAL BULL $HIT to hurt the economy and hurt President Trump’s chances for reelection.
The only thing that is a real threat is the supply chain disruption.
Bingo!!!!
Thank you for this post!
There was a plea from a doctor in Italy yesterday saying exactly this. The doctor was lamenting being put into a position to make those triage decisions on a daily basis. It has to be emotionally exhausting for a person committed to saving lives and not having needed resources.
People are recognizing this for what it is. And even some of the people at work and waking up to it that i would not have expected.
The economy is going to be trying to drag itself out of a big hole with lots of small businesses gone. The economic recovery is going to take a long time, unfortunately.
“People with this” are in ICU for 18 days on average?
Bull
And you believe the numbers coming out of China? Really? Did China, just the other day, say the the virus was brought to China from the USA? China lies, period.
Trump knows that, but he has to over react to a certain extent now because of the coming election to enoculate himself against cries of he didn’t do anything and let this happen from the left. Better for the election to have done too much.
The next few weeks and months will tell us if we end up like Italy or South Korea. Either way we are in for a very rough time
It isn't in China, South Korea, Taiwan or Singapore, which have managed to contain it.
mostly taking down the most vulnerable and elderly
The elderly usually die from one thing or the other anyway, irrespective of coronavirus. That is why are called mortals. We don’t live forever.
Every year 2 million people die in America, mostly elderly people. Another million Chinese die in China every year mos of them from old age.
What is the problem here?
