The mayor of Champaign, Illinois has declared a town emergency over the Wuhan coronavirus that includes a potential ban on the sale of firearms and ammunition.
According to a local report from WAND 17, Champaign Mayor Deborah Frank Feinen has issued an executive order that would give her office "extraordinary powers." She has issued the order despite the town and surrounding area not having a single case of the disease.

Whether this virus thing happens or is a bust,the chaos that’s been created can initiate civil unrest at the least and wars between countries at the most. I know. I’m a scaremonger to some but I always remember how the L.A. riots were. In the end the National Guard was called out. The specter of martial law and a police state loom closer.

Never let a good crisis go to waste. The most inordinate and outrageous of demands can be and are made during periods of high anxiety and extreme stress. In a panic, these things are made part of the permanent record, no matter how poorly thought out the concept may have been.
Look back in history, even very recent history, and observe how many inappropriate and oppressive things were made into “the law of the land”, all in the name of solving or postponing a very transient set of circumstances. And the law is still on the books.
