Not long ago, had someone tried this crap, an armed mob would have been at their doorstep, led by the local sheriff.

It’ll serve its purpose. By the time it gets through the courts, it will be an extended time of financially shutting down dealers and costing arms makers millions. It will also increase the sales of black market arms and put pressure on law enforcement they won’t handle, all the way to the feds. So the foreign arms dealers will be making millions while the US business people are being hammered into submission.
