Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren dropped out of the 2020 presidential race Thursday, ending a once front-running bid that never achieved its sky-high potential once voting actually began.
Answering the "what happened" question is never a simple thing. Voters make up their minds for lots of different reasons -- some of which they are willing to articulate and some they simply won't. But generally speaking, there seem to be three reasons why Warren didn't get to where she wanted to go.
1) She peaked too soon: If the Iowa caucuses were October 3, Warren could have won going away. National polling around that time captures Warren's summer and early fall surge.
2) She tried to be more than just a liberal: Voters in the two lanes of the Democratic Party have now coalesced around Biden in the center and Sanders on the left.
3) Sexism: This is an indisputable fact: We have had 44 presidents and not one of them has been a woman. Coincidence? Probably not. How much did the fact that Warren is a woman and ran on an unapologetically feminist platform for president affect the outcome? It's almost impossible to know, but it's equally impossible to think it had no role in how voters perceived her.
Asked about the role her gender played in the race on Thursday, Warren responded this way:
"That is the trap question for every woman. If you say yeah, there was sexism in this race, everyone says, 'Whiner.' And if you say no, there was no sexism, about a bazillion women think, 'What planet do you live on?'"
She added that she would "have a lot more to say on that subject later on."

4) She sucks.
Because no one ever asked her to run.
I dont know, maybe because she was as psychotic communist?
She speaked too soon ...
“Sexism”
Wait, the last Democrat nominee was Her Thighness, Shrillary Clinton. Where was the sexism there? Has it mysteriously materialized in the past four years?
'Cause she ain't that good!
As I suspected the idiot who wrote this article hasn’t the slightest clue. Warren is shrill, arrogant and drips condescension. Her never ending stream of wildly expensive plans were simply stabs into the dark in desperation. Maybe 6 people would show up to her rallies.
She never stood the slightest chance because she is at heart completely unlikeable. Her attempts to seem down to earth were stiff and entirely phony.
So... Well.... Bye!
Because being a preachy college professor who lies about her ethnicity for personal gain doesnt inspire or excite.
Just take a look at her. She always looks like she just got out of bed and threw on clothes to go to the supermarket for bread.
Yep. The biggest problem with the Warren campaign was that it was headed by Elizabeth Warren.
Right-She’s a snarky, know-it-all, who doesn’t know squat.
I have met women like that... you lay down skid marks getting away from them
Sexism? These were DEMOCRATIC primaries.
I suspect she did not do better because she is a lying, unlikable harpy but that is just my guess.
According to the Babylon Bee, she rode back in solitude to her reservation, having failed to take the land back from the pale faces...
“I am sorry, my people. I have failed,” she said somberly, a single tear rolling down her cheek. “The white man still holds our land, and the very trees cry out against them. May Great Spirit grant us another chance in 4 harvests.”
Likability is huge. Bloomberg registered a negative number on the likability scale and he got crushed. Likability alone is not sufficient (Tulsi) but without it you cannot win. To me, Warren seems like a crazy assistant principal in charge of discipline, every boy’s worst nightmare.
“Maybe it was about her promising to appoint a transgender teen to her education committee.”
That was a big one. It demonstrated to even the thickest DEMbulb that there was no end to her pandering.
Reminded most men of bad teacher they once had.
The fact that CNN does not know this answer is the reason their ratings are so low.
