Mesut Hakki Casin, a prominent member of Turkeys Security and Foreign Policy Board, who advises Erdogan, said: We have fought Russia 16 times in the past, and we will fight it again.
Casin made his statements following the death of 33 Turkish soldiers who were killed in an airstrike by Russian-backed Syrian forces in Idlib.
The official hinted that they will use Muslims inside Russia to assist them with their efforts saying that Moscow will be will be shattered from inside should a war break out between the two countries.
Following a request from Ankara, NATO convened an urgent meeting to review the situation in Idlib on Friday. Turkish officials vowed to retaliate against Syria following the attack on their troops.

The third biggest blunder in history?
Trump will not get us involved in this dispute.
It matters not a whit that Turkey is a NATO ‘member’
Trump is not stupid...the NATO alliance is NOT a suicide pact.
I always remix it with “Putting on the Ritz” (a glitch since my childhood)
I’m of Polish ancestry as well, and I’d love to see a liberated Constantinople. Turkey was a good ally at one time. Not any more.
I believe Muslims number about 1.5 million out of 12.5 million in Moscow’s population.
Free Constantinople!

And change it’s name back to Byzantium.
The Russians put great credence in their air defenses, but we and the Israelis and now the Turks seem to get around them fairly easy.
The big question is whether Erdogan wants to risk a prolonged war with Russia. I would think not, but on the other hand in the short term Putin risks a humiliating ground defeat in Syria.
My guess is that Erdogan works out some modus vivendi with Putin at Assad's expense: I notice the Russians are not doing much to support him after this one, tentative airstrike on the Turks.
“We will fight Russia. We have great anti-aircraft defense weapons, such as the S-400.” Right... like it doesn’t have a software backdoor.
The Russians are going to have to start killing them at some point, and the longer they delay, the worse their situation will be.
I hate Erdogan, but will take the Turks side on this, just as they are right on Kurdish terrorists in eastern Anatolia.
If there is a war between Turkey and Russia, but it is taking place only in Syria, does NATO have any obligation to help Turkey? Or, if Turkey attacks Russia (invades Russia), is NATO obligated in any way? If Russia invades Turkey, then that would obviously invoke the NATO treaty, but I’m doubtful about NATO obligations under other conditions.
Crimean War was a waste, other than the Russians deservingly getting their asses kicked.
Time to pop some corn.
Russia GDP: $1.5 trillion
Turkey GDP: $852 billion
Russia population: 145 million
Turkey population: 84 million
Turkey does have the finances and population to take on Russia.
Ok, Mr President, time to get our nukes out of Turkey.
Russian Orthodox 15-20%, Muslim 10-15%, other Christian 2% (2006 est.)
note: estimates are of practicing worshipers; Russia has large populations of non-practicing believers and non-believers, a legacy of over seven decades of official atheism under Soviet rule; Russia officially recognizes Orthodox Christianity, Islam, Judaism, and Buddhism as the country’s traditional religions
CIA World Factbook
“Turkey does have the finances and population to take on Russia.”
Hmmm. Yeah, how about that Turkish space program, the Turkish nuclear forces, famous Turkish mathematicians, composers, authors, chess masters and scientists.... yeah, the two countries sound very comparable.
Few around here realize that very thing.
Turkey at war with Russia... That would be worth a very large expenditure for lots of popcorn...
