A Wisconsin appeals court on Friday overturned a ruling that ordered the removal of up to 209,000 people from the states voter rolls, handing Democrats a victory in a case they said was intended to make it more difficult for their voters to cast ballots in November.
The conservative group that brought the case immediately said it would appeal to the state Supreme Court.
The appeals court last month put the ruling, and the purge, on hold while it considered the case. The 4th District Court of Appeals ruling overturned the decision of an Ozaukee County judge who had initially ruled in favor of a conservative law firm that was seeking the purge.
The appeals court also vacated an order from that same judge that found the state Elections Commission in contempt for not moving forward with the purge.
The appeals court sent the case back to the lower court and ordered that it be dismissed.
The case has received a lot of attention because Wisconsin is among a group of swing states being targeted by Democrats and President Donald Trump this year. Trump won Wisconsin in 2016 by fewer than 23,000 votes, putting even more of a focus on every voter in the state.

Supreme court will reverse.
This is a state court case so the appeal will be to the Wisconsin Supreme Court after perfunctory motions for reconsideration.
There may be an angle for the RNC and other national voting groups to get into this because it affects elections for federal offices.
I’d have to see the appeals course argument before wagering what will happen but it seems it would take only one fraud voter, voting in the name of someone who should not be on the Wisconsin voter rolls to begin with, to upend this appeals court decision.
a ruling that ordered the removal of up to 209,000 NAMES from the states voter rolls,
It would be interesting to see how many of these challenged records represented live people. However, that would take some actual reporting, which is in short supply.
Shameful. Allowing voter fraud.
Of course the stay is right before the WSSC election inApril.
Frauders gotta fraud.
Dead Democrat voters and illegal aliens seem to be the only ones never in need of proper identification in order to get anything and everything.
Very crappy reporting by AP . That report should contain a summary of the content of the what the judges ruled both pro and con and their names.
ALL conservative groups need to get these lawsuits started NOW! These need to be resolved ASAP given only 11 months for the new Trump “President for life” election!!
I sure hope so!
Does the WSSC lean to the left or right???
Currently right but republican incumbent up for re-election
That is only between 2 candidates incumbent Daniel Kelly (c0nservative) and Dane County Circuit Judge Jill Karofsky (liberal, correct?. The court currently has a 5-2 conservative majority. If Kelly lost they would still retain a 4-3 majority. Are there wishy washy conservatives on Wisconsin’s Supreme Court that might flip?
Kelly is as solid as they come. However, the election coincides with the Rat primary, since there is not GOP primary, the Rats will be out in force and many Republicans will stay home.
Its not a good situation.
4th District Court of Appeals = Madison. No shock there...next stop, the State Supremes.
FROM AP'S ARTICLE:
"The voter purge lawsuit argued that the state elections commission broke the law when it did not remove voters from the rolls who did not respond within 30 days to a mailing in October indicating they may have moved. The commission wanted to wait until after the November 2020 presidential election before removing anyone because of inaccuracies found while previously attempting to identify voters who may have moved.
"The appeals court said in its unanimous decision that the law in question does not refer to the Elections Commission or give any duties to it related to deactivating voters. The commission had argued that the power to do that rests with local election clerks and the appeals court agreed.
"In interpreting the Wisconsin Statutes, courts may not rewrite the plain language of the statutes the legislature has enacted, the appeals court said. Acceptance of the arguments of Plaintiffs would cause us to rewrite statutes enacted by the legislature, and that we cannot do."
and their names
FROM AP'S ARTICLE:
"A three-judge panel in the 4th District of the appeals court Michael Fitzpatrick, JoAnne Kloppenburg and Jennifer Nashold issued Fridays ruling. Nashold was elected to the court last year after running unopposed. Fitzpatrick also ran unopposed and was first elected in 2017. Kloppenburg has been on the appeals court since 2012 and also ran unsuccessfully twice for the state Supreme Court with Democratic support."
Well the republican voters in Wisconsin are stupid if what you say is the reality. If they ignore what is at stake with regard to their Supreme Court. I’m hoping you are wrong, but I honestly don’t know. Let’s pray they aren’t as complacent as you seem to think they may be.
It is absolutely true the Rats stole the Wisconsin Governors race in 18. Again nothing done about it.
I doubt if the DIMs would win any elections at any level if they didn’t cheat one way or another. The judges that made this ruling are political hacks and should be impeached and removed.
Pretty much right.
