A growing number of Democratic lawmakers are calling for Twitter and Facebook to pull down an edited video of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) that was posted by President Trump on Thursday, reigniting a battle over how much responsibility social media platforms should assume over viral footage that could mislead viewers.
The back-and-forth over the Pelosi video is opening up fresh wounds, as Democrats are still incensed by Twitter and Facebook's previous decision to leave up a different manipulatively edited video of Pelosi that went viral last year.
Pelosi's deputy chief of staff, Drew Hammill, on Friday said the "latest fake video of Speaker Pelosi is deliberately designed to mislead and lie to the American people."
"The American people know that the President has no qualms about lying to them but it is a shame to see Twitter and Facebook, sources of news for millions, do the same," Hammill said on Friday. "Every day that these platforms refuse to take it down is another reminder that they care more about their shareholders interests than the publics interests.
Hammill said Pelosi's office has asked both Twitter and Facebook to take down the video.

I don’t see their ‘point’ at all. Everything Trump said at the State of the Union was in those papers she shredded. Therefore, each story of heroism, each story of American greatness was in those papers. She shredded them in front of the whole country. Pelosi is a piece of trash, and that video is spot on, and obviously a little too spot on for the rats as they scurry to have the video scrubbed from the internet.
But...but...Nancy, I thought you were PROUD of what you did! getting heaps of praise and what not for such courage. Why on earth should we not see this?
Of course, asking it to be removed has caused EVERYONE to look at it now...
just my $0.02 (can't stop laughing)
jimjohn - OUT
Hes been in Congress for over 3 years and this is the first Ive heard of him. Hes accomplished so much in his life and yet the American media never mentions his story. On the other hand, everyone has heard about Democrat representative Tammy Duckworth. I effing HATE the petty, manipulative, and lying media.
Democrats = big cry babies
Just call it a PARODY. And let Adam Schiff suck on THAT a while.
The video is so delicious...cant stop smiling.
(Snicker, snicker)
It will be in a campaign ad come this fall.
I knew I'd get this response and I laughed too. But watching them sit on their hands or Pelosi chewing her dentures as POTUS honored each one and highlighted his accomplishments is also worth the price of admission. Save the tearing for a fast ending - quick picture of an honoree and tearing then the next honoree and tearing etc. would have been something they could not complain about.
You Snowflakes crack me up.
That video is devastating - and true! No wonder they want it censored.
Cedar that is a tactical judgment call and you may well be correct. However, I think the strategy was to get the opposition to squeal about it in order that people who didn’t watch the SOTU address might go watch it. So it’s a win.
Perhaps... :)
Too funny - the edit shows no fake information or tampering - all they did was interpose her ripping up the speech in between certain moments....they just know the terrible optics she presented as she tried to set up some other optics and came across as a spiteful, petty, sophomoric ass...
Indeed - She herself offered as the explanation that the reason she ripped up the pages was because the words in them were lies. This video just demonstrates the very words she was ripping up and claimed to be proud of ripping up.
LOL! Ya, and we know the Democrats NEVER do that!!
Pelosi herself said she ripped it up because it was all “mistruths”.
Congrats, Nancy. You own this one.
Where did you see that?
