For 35ish years Rush has always been a part of my life.

A co-worker/friend introduced me to Rush's program around 1993 or so. Up to that time I considered myself a democrat. I started listening a bit to Rush and watched his (then) TV show. It was not long until I realized that I was no longer a democrat and that "Rush is right" (my friend had been telling me I was a conservative and that I just didn't know it).

This is very sad news.

He said “advanced”. That could mean anything from Stage II and up. He didn’t give enough details really...

If you can find it early, like with Ginsberg, totally by accident, like with any cancer, your chances are excellent..once you have symptoms odds are not good. My Dad had colon cancer in 1998, back then having a colonoscopy was such a big deal, like the end of the world, doc scared him, he had a sigmo instead, the cancer was higher up, so they missed it, by the time it was found it had spread to his liver, he lived 1 yr

Same with Dana Reeve, never smoked a day in her life and she died of lung cancer

I attended a taping of his television show way back when (remember those loud ties he used to wear and hawk!). Went up to him after the show—what a kind gentle, man he was/is. Actually had quite a bit of little boy shyness in him all encased in that over the top confidence he exudes.

I pray for you, Rush, that the Lord will grant you a deep abiding sense of His presence and that He might strengthen you for the challenge thatl lies before you.

...Oh, and Rush, that day I came to your studio I accidentally left my winter gloves under my seat. If your cleaning crew found them, I’d like to get them back.

I listened to 2 hours of his show then decided I had enough politics for the day. Then Woah! I get a Fox News BREAKING news on my phone. My jaw dropped.

He thought he was doing himself a favor switching to cigars.
Damn!

As my Cancer oncological surgeon says, “We are surgeons, not statisticians.”

The treatment protocols are changing every 18 months. Most people treated within the last three years are not in those statistics or conversely most of the input is not from those recently undergoing therapy.

My coworker who had stage 4 lung cancer was a two pack a day smoker since he was THIRTEEN years old. As I said before, it’s been about 6 years since his original diagnosis and he’s hanging in there! Most of his days are good ones.

His mother and father were British and he grew up in South Africa, I guess chain smoking at age 13 is not something shocking in that country. He’s about 66 years old now.

*** “He really helped me to galvanize my political viewpoint, and gave it a definition. I really didn’t know what conservatism or liberalism was until Rush” ***

My neighbor used to come over in his wheelchair and talk Politics with me (Old Navy Diver that lost a Leg and a Lung in a Helicopter crash) He said “You don’t realize that you are a Conservative, you need to listen to this guy Rush”, it was during the Clarence Thomas Hearings, I was hooked!
Little did I know that my Mother would pass from Cancer just a month later and I would be searching Radio Stations the entire Cross Country Trip to find his show, both ways.
Rush Changed my Life tremendously.
Prayers for Rush and his Family.

Smoking is a strange thing. Some people seem to get away with it. Others don’t.

Tobacco is a terrible weed.

You’re taking a chance if you just chew on an old stogie and don’t even light it up.

Snuff, chewing tobacco, pipes, vaping... not good.

It has bothered me to see Rush smoking cigars for decades. It wasn’t just for him, but the fact that others would see it as cool and join in.

Using tobacco IS NOT cool.

My grandparents had a nursing home in Missouri back in the 70s. One man there had a hole where his nose used to be. I believe his vice had been a pipe.

I had never been inclined to smoke, but that was the icing on the cake. I’ve never seen smoking as cool.

Dead people, the mamed, productive lives cut short, golden years shot to hell, spouses forever abandoned, and other loved ones left behind to mourn.

LOL! If he checks the comments here I'd bet Rush will get a kick out of that!
