He has advanced lung cancer
Could be second hand smoke, mold, long exposure to diesel fumes,asbestos in house, etc.
It’s not just tobacco...but we know ..without a doubt..the tobacco can cause it.
I don't know? I suspect God would have found another way. But, I get your point. And, no... it's not unreasonable.
I first heard Rush in August of 1989, in Houston on KSEV radio. I had attended a celebration party the night before for a new chemical plant startup that I had been a part in. One of our very liberal engineers was complaining about "some idiot" on the radio. I made a mental note to check it out.
The next day, at lunch, I tuned my radio to KSEV and all I heard was a strange mix of Andy Williams singing "Born Free", with a bunch of odd sounds in the background.. things like chain saws and such. It went on for quite a while. Eventually, Rush started talking about some California plan to build "turtle tunnels" under highways. Rush suggested they hire homeless people to "carry the turtles across the road". I just about died laughing. I was hooked.
Been listening ever since. Bought the early books, newsletter, 24/7 and the newer kid books. I've been on the air three times. Mostly, I just listen. I travel internationally quite often, and the Podcasts keep me sane while I'm gone. He keeps me up to date on everything going on that is important.
I just pray that God will intervene, and allow the blessing of Rush to remain with us a bit longer.
Every case is individual, but a lung cancer diagnosis is always scary news. Our local (Cape Girardeau, MO) US Representative, Bill Emerson, died fairly shortly after he announced he had lung cancer. He had felt well enough to run for re-election in November and was gone by June. Like others I hope and pray that Rush is able to overcome this.

I know several also who smoked all their lives into ripe old ages. Regardless of concerns, it shouldn’t be the first thing some people say when they hear bad health news about someone.
Speaking like someone deserves getting sick because they smoke or not the fittest is horribly insensitive and self-righteous preaching. Very mean thing to say.

Hearing the words LUNG CANCER is devasting..but when you hear STAGE 4....you better be getting to making your plans and telling people you love them.

There's been a fair amount of news about Radon gas in recent years, a gas that's in the ground in many areas and can seep into homes and possibly cause lung cancer and other respiratory problems.
Been listening to Rush since 1990 when I saw him on C-SPAN’s Talk Radio Week. Not only was it great hearing conservative politics aired when the MSM & NPR held full sway, but in the video Rush was just plain having FUN annoying the libs. His Updates & update themes were priceless.
Would have started listening sooner, but I was in graduate school in 1989 and a leftie prof who didn’t like my views told me about him and added, “You’ll like Rush Limbaugh, he’s a real fascist!!” What a jerk.
Well, I wanted conservatism, not fascism, so I didn’t try to find Rush on the radio until that C-SPAN special.
But have I been listening for thirty years, now? Sure doesn’t seem that long.
Prayers up for Rush, but if worse comes to worse his best sub host Mark Steyn could, IMO, fill his shoes. Mark became a U.S. citizen last year; he was subjected to Stasi-style persecution by Canadian courts just for being non-PC, and he relentlessly deploys his dry wit to devastating effect against the freedom-killers on the Left.

I vote you have the Mods fix your title. I listened to and read Rush’s statement-the word retirement did not appear. If you listen to Rush, you know his job and his listeners are his life. He wants to keep his normal as long as he can.

As a listener since Sacramento days, I attest that Rush has got me through the Clintons and Obamas with knowledge and humor. Jeez I hope there is someone in radio out there with his funny, insightful, macro-view approach who is honing skills for the future. Rush is GOAT. Simply irreplaceable.
I don’t believe in sugar coating lung cancer.
No one deserves it.
But if the REALITY of lung cancer and the frankness off it all can get people to think twice about putting that cigarette to their mouth and maybe save their life..I am for it.
And maybe Rush will be able to bring awareness to it and get some people to stop smoking
Me too. My heart out to Rush. I admire him so. He is a fighter. Health technology has really advanced. And right to try is a Godsend. Prayers continuing.
I actually used to go to a “Rush Room” at a local BBQ place in Lake Charles, La back in the early 1990’s. They played Rush LOUDLY over the speakers during lunch in one room.
It was awesome!
Not sure scientist know how long your exposure needs to be.
But yes, Mold.
Besides all the other problems it can cause...
so if you have it..take action to get rid of it as much as economically feasible.
Yea, cos he doesn't have any IMPORTANT stuff to do, like fight for his life and his normal...let's just ask him to do something else while all this is going on, right?
