The United States is arranging a charter flight on Sunday to bring its citizens and diplomats back from the Chinese city of Wuhan, epicenter of the outbreak of a new coronavirus, the Wall Street Journal reported on Saturday.
The plane, with around 230 people, will carry diplomats from the U.S. consulate as well as U.S. citizens and their families, the Journal reported, citing a person familiar with the operation.

A spokesperson for the U.S. Embassy in Beijing said that on Thursday, the State Department had ordered the departure of family members and all U.S. government employees at its Wuhan consulate, but declined to comment on the report that other U.S. citizens would be evacuated from the city.

It was likely refined by the finest biomedical engineers in China. It's likely more effective than the containment facilities at the biological weapons facility down the road a few miles from Wuhan.
Exactly.
Still have some nuclear waste on one corner of Johnston. Also this virus is reported to survive longer on surfaces that are relatively cool. Johnston is hot, averaging 82 this time of year, so although uncomfortable it would be easier to control the virus there.
Frightening possibility.
Need another week to let it unfold, but prep time is now.
I’m thinking this is a shelter in place for two months.
No outside contact.
Once you’re in you stay...
If you were there, would you prefer to be rescued or would you prefer to be abandoned?
Trump doesnt abandon his ambassadors or his citizens.
Guantanamo?
Actually the State Departments will fly you back to the nearest US Mainland port of entry. So LA, SF, Seattle, Anchorage or Newark probably
At least when the SAR stuff hit HK that was what I was told. We didn’t go because the oldest daughter was sick
You’re right - they need to be quarantined ... And it makes sense to move all Americans out of China. At the rate this is spreading the time to move is now.
And what about the other evacuations that don’t have massive resources to ensure containment?
This just released today. It’s is why they can’t just fly in 1,000 U.S. citizens from Wuhan, without enforcing a quarantine when they get here.
“Chinas National Health Commission (NHC) said on Sunday that the new coronavirus is contagious even in its incubation period, which lasts up to 14 days, and that the virus ability to spread is getting stronger.
Ma said that unlike Sars (severe acute respiratory syndrome) the new coronavirus was infectious during its incubation period. He also reiterated earlier reports that people infected with the virus might not immediately show any symptoms.”
Thanks. They have to be quarantined. See post

I like the idea of temporary quarantine at Midway or similar. Meanwhile, up your daily Vitamin C to 500 mg. 3 times a day. I have a renter due back from her China vacation tomorrow. The woman who shares the bathroom with her is worried, I told her to always wash her hands thoroughly before she leaves the bathroom. Then shut off the faucet and open the door with a cloth or paper towel in her hand. For that matter use a cover when she handles the doorknob leaving and entering the house.
I meant to include a map by got distracted by a phone call. Wuhan is in Hubei Province on the Yangze (sp?) River a big tourist spot. An easy to read map is the second one down at this link:

That's what Xi said. /rimshot>
800 Americans have been left there to ride it out, according to Tucker Carlson. Wonder who you have to know or what you had to pay to be somebody other than an ambassador and get on that plane...?
Also, I believe Tucker Carlson reported that people being brought back from Wuhan to America are going to be screened in Alaska. Which doesn’t make any sense either, if true.
Ontario Ca airport, then a military base in Riverside.
