Turkey’s earthquakes are the most predictable in the world.
So’s the damage - the Turks know less about building construction than the Roman engineers who built the Hagia Sophia.
With every earthquake Hagia Sophia sheds more Moslem plaster, revealing more Byzantine Iconography.
I was in a 5.6 in Izmir back in the 70’s. Blew glass out from the buildings into the streets. Was one of those slow up, down, back and forth type that put lots of cracks into walls as it stressed them.
Pretty sure they didn’t have the older buildings earthquake reinforced.
Can’t imagine a 6.8. That would level some buildings.
Yes. However, when searching, I did not see it on FR, and so posted. If I duplicated, I apologise.
Thank you for posting more information.
I lived in Tarzana during the. 6.7 Northridge quake in 94. I never new the earth could shake like that. The. 7.1 quake that hit Ridgcrest last year was felt here strongly and we’re about 70 miles from there. Everytime the earth shakes it makes me realize the power of God.
HAARP
?
They don’t reinforce the new buildings either, unless it’s some corrupt buddy of Erdogan the Thug.
No problem. Just wanted to post that it hadn’t just happened
