I have been waiting for some LEO's to shout this out. Needs to be repeated. LEO's oaths are to the constitution, not the legislatures.

I like his Moxie but I wish he and others like him would simply stand by and keep their mouths shut. Broadcasting your intent in a situation like this is bad OpSec. Just be quiet and do your duty to the Constitution when an issue arises. No one would be the wiser. Refuse to arrest or detain and if need be, catch and release just for the show of it...letting your “perp” know upfront that they have nothing to worry about.

Sheriffs are generally elected positions. I suspect they feel the obligation to let their constituents know where they stand as unambiguously as possible. In this case, "broadcasting intent," is pretty much a campaign promise.
