Two GOP Senate chairmen are asking for the Treasury Department to hand over any documents related to Hunter Biden and a Ukrainian energy company amid an ongoing impeachment inquiry against President Trump. In a letter dated Nov. 15, Senate Finance Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley (Repub-Iowa) and Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee Chairman Ron Johnson (Repub-Wis.) asked for “suspicious activity reports” involving former Vice President Joe Biden's son.
The documents do not include findings about any illegal activity itself but are filed by financial institutions when money laundering or fraud is suspected. It is unknown if any such reports exist involving Hunter Biden, and the GOP letter did not include any evidence that Hunter Biden engaged in any activity that would be covered in such reports, according to Reuters.
Hunter Biden has denied any wrongdoing involving his work for the Ukrainian company, Burisma Holdings, which President Trump and his Republican allies have targeted. Trump has claimed without evidence that Joe Biden pushed for Ukraine to fire a prosecutor due to his son's business interests, though both have denied such allegations.
The GOP senators said Burisma was paying Hunter Biden as much as $50,000 a month and that their committees were investigating “potentially improper actions" by the Obama administration with respect to Burisma Holdings and Ukraine, according to Reuters.
The two chairmen previously asked the State Department for documents related to Hunter Biden and Burisma. The lawmakers gave the Treasury Department a Dec. 5 deadline for the information requested on Friday.
The letter comes as House Democrats probe the president's efforts to get the country to launch politically charged investigations, including a probe into the Bidens.
Democrats have blasted Trump over the efforts targeting Joe Biden, who is a top political rival and a front-runner for the 2020 Democratic presidential nomination.
As the House held public hearings over the past two weeks to hear from current and former administration witnesses in the inquiry, GOP lawmakers have aimed to shift gears and focus instead on unsubstantiated allegations involving Hunter Biden in Ukraine.
Joe Biden’s campaign told Reuters that the request means “Trump is now counting on his Republican enablers in the Senate to bail him out.” “Driven by fear of a mean tweet, they are falling in line, peddling the same disproven lies we’ve heard for months,” campaign spokesman Andrew Bates said.

The New York Times reported on Monday that hackers from the Russian military intelligence unit known as the GRU succeeded in hacking Burisma, the Ukrainian natural gas company that Hunter Biden sat on the board of, and that Joe Biden protected from investigation by withholding $1 billion in aid unless Ukrainian officials fired the prosecutor investigating the company.
GRU is responsible for other high-profile hacks of the DNC and John Podesta. Seven GRU officers were indicted in 2018 for conspiring to interfere with the 2016 election. The hacking attempts against Burisma began in early November, as the Democrats’ impeachment efforts increased the profile of the company and Biden’s conflict of interests.
It is not yet known what the hackers found or what they were looking for. The New York Times says that “experts say the timing and scale of the attacks suggest that the Russians could be searching for potentially embarrassing material on the Bidens.” The GRU hackers succeeded in attacking the company through a phishing scam that sent their employees to bogus login pages, from which the employees’ login credentials could be obtained.
So what does this mean? Scott Rosenburg of Axios believes that awareness of the hacks “cuts both ways politically.”
There are huge negative implications for Joe Biden and his presidential campaign, since “it means document dumps could happen at any time, with accompanying media frenzy and potentially damaging revelations.” Many on the left still believe—despite all evidence to the contrary—that Trump colluded with Russia in 2016, so Russian involvement with the hacks “means that any such revelations will come pre-tainted with a Russian label,” according to Rosenburg.

The IRS placed a tax lien on Hunter Biden for $112,805 in unpaid taxes from 2015, according to records the Daily Caller News Foundation obtained. Biden served on the boards of the Ukrainian natural gas company Burisma Holdings and the Chinese private equity firm BHR Partners in 2015. Biden has been accused of refusing to provide basic information about his finances in an ongoing paternity case in Arkansas.

Remember when Joe Biden bragged about how he coerced Ukraine into firing its top prosecutor by threatening that the Obama administration would pull $1 billion in U.S. loan guarantees from them. While this type of interference in a foreign government by the then-Vice President of the United States is highly inappropriate in itself, what makes it even worse is that the prosecutor he got fired was probing a firm for which his son Hunter Biden worked.
It was a huge money laundering. Ukraine, Biden’s to the DNC, all starting to make sense after Paul Sperry’s latest tweets.

The lamestream media and the democrat establishment (same thing really) are propping Biden up for two reasons.
First, Biden is viewed as the least batshit crazy of a field of batshit crazy democrat candidates. They see Biden as the likeable but senile old uncle who keeps forgetting where he is. That is better than giving the democrat nomination to one of the crazy stepchildren who are trying to loot the house and pawn the TV and silver. Biden is probably the only democrat candidate with a chance in hell of not getting beaten by Trump in a national landslide (visions of Nixon v. McGovern dance in their heads).
Second, if Biden is allowed to become irrelevant in the race then the democrats’ entire Ukraine narrative against Trump also becomes irrelevant. Trump supposedly leaned on Ukraine to investigate the Bidens because Biden was a threat to his re-election (again, visions of Nixon v. McGovern). If Biden had been allowed to quickly become a political has-been, it would have gutted the democrats’ carefully crafted impeachment scheme.
They were all so brazen and sloppy while committing massive crimes......but remember......
