The Royal Family are said to be "hurt" at the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's announcement they will step back as senior royals.

Prince Harry and Meghan did not consult any senior royal before making the statement, the BBC understands.

Buckingham Palace was "blindsided", said BBC royal correspondent Jonny Dymond, as talks about their future had begun but were in very early stages.

” actual combat vet “

Maybe one 7.62 round slightly greased a skid of his aircraft; if at all.

Already the country Harry sponges off of doesn’t have freedom of speech — and here he is whinging about freedom of the press.

Once The Old Girl is gone the House of Windsor will collapse. And good riddance to it. Bunch of spoiled, degenerate layabouts anyway.

Imagine the condition of an actor, especially a successful Hollywood actor. His condition is worse for males than females because the role runs counter to any red blooded conception of manhood.

The actor essentially dresses up and plays pretend. He has an army of enablers who mold him into an image of something far greater and far larger than he himself could ever hope to become if left to his own resources. He has costume designers, makeup artists hairstylists, lighting engineers, cutting room geniuses, writers putting the perfect words in his mouth and directors presenting the picture at the best possible angle.

All the while this actor must often repeat his botched lines over and over while all of these enablers scramble to get his image just exactly right and the director has coordinated all.

He must pretend to be something better than he is, a heroic soldier, a fearless swashbuckler, a talented athlete, an accomplished horseman, a dead shot, fabulously witty and unfailingly charming when in real life he is likely none of these things. He is playing let's pretend.

Imagine his embarrassment and humiliation when he must step aside to let a stunt double do what he is incapable of doing or afraid to do. Either he is a man of reasonable modesty in which case he feels humiliated or he is by nature or likely by experience in Hollywood an insensitive narcissist. All of this humiliation is made worse by the uncritical adoring of the masses. Was John Wayne really a war hero? Was Princess Diana by the nature of her death worthy of national trauma?

Now consider the role of a British Royal. Selected by accident of birth to play a role which veers from the grandiose to farcical. (Harry may or may not actually have been chosen at birth, there is some belief that he is truly the son of Diana and not actually the son of Prince Charles but rather of Diana's riding instructor.) As the spare rather than the heir, Harry apparently served honorably in the British Army and perhaps was exposed to enough real life to give him perspective on the absurdity of his stature as a royal. Was he embarrassed every time he was made to dress up in a comic opera uniform festooned with medals that he did not earn to lead men who had earned their medals?

Just as we see billionaires and wealthy leftists in America assuaging their guilt with groveling submission to political correctness, as was so brilliantly satirized at the Emmys by master of ceremonies Ricky Gervais, so it is likely that Prince Harry seeks to redeem a sense of reality to his life with a repudiation of the trappings of royalty. I have just enough irreverent Irish blood in my veins to hope so.

I suspect their two American Deep Stare hires may have had something to do with this decision. Why their hiring and possible involvement in this isn’t getting more play on that side of The Pond is curious...

Because of those hires and cozying up with the PIAPS, I would rather not have either of them living in this hemisphere.

No telling what kind of toxic drama and petty meanness Meghan had to put up with behind the scenes. Despite the media debacle, she strikes me as the kind of person who is eager to please and made an effort to get along with ‘the Firm.’

Megan is the drama.

She auditioned for the biggest role of her acting career and got the part. Now, she wants to walk away from the gig.

It was quoted on Fox this morning, Meghan split her parents, split the brothers, Harry and William, and has taken Harry away from the Royal Family...

Women do that... for control and do not like to share... SHE has to be the most important...

Harry will ultimately pay a terrible price for being pussy whipped by this woman now. He’s nuts

All men who make the horrible, horrible mistake of getting married are nuts and whipped. That doesn’t mean he wasn’t 100% right to be getting away from this stupid, toxic family and system. Once he is free of the family, than maybe one day he will come to his senses and get free of the wife.

“It’s the only escape she has to live the normal life she knew other than to divorce Harry and return to the US.”

The life Meghan Markle enjoyed prior to marrying Harry was not the “normal life” of most Americans, Canadians, and English. She was a wealthy celebrity, in the public eye, before connecting with Harry as was he. Both were, and will continue to be, members of the wealthy, elite, 1% class controlling most of the world’s assets, institutions, and politics.

Most of the world’s 1% do live lives of anonymity from the masses. The obvious exclusions are politicians, media celebrities, and a few high profile CEO’s (Bezos, Gates, Buffett, Dimon). If their goal of leading a normal life is to live the privileged lives of the 1%, without the bother of being recognized by the masses on the street or hounded by the press, it will likely take decades for them to achieve this “normalcy”. For years to come the paparazzi will be dogging them as they slip out for a quiet dinner in a restaurant or attempt to vacation on the coast of France. Certainly if they are to be successful in raising sufficient charity money to fund a foundation capable of doing good works while supporting a multimillion dollar lifestyle, they will have to capitalize on their celebrity status, not escape it.

Good luck to them if they have a well thought out vision for a new life and commitment to achieve it. The duties inherent in being a royal, and freedom to pursue one’s dreams, are mutually exclusive for most royals so escape is certainly a requirement for those who wish to lead a life with more freedom. They may achieve freedom and self sufficiency. Sadly, if normalcy is the real goal, it likely cannot be achieved due to their past and current celebrity status.

The lesson they will learn that freedom to pursue happiness does not ensure one will achieve happiness. Ironically it is a lesson known well to many normal people.

I doubt if they’ll abdicate (or whatever). All MM wanted was to be a Royal and she’s not giving that up. Big talk from a small woman — and she’s thriving on the worldwide attention.

Picking a wife is by orders of magnitude the most important choice a man can make. I chose well... he did not.
