A video that went viral on Twitter showed an unidentified woman abruptly grabbing Francis’ hand from behind a barrier and yanking him towards her just after he reached out to greet a child during a visit to the Vatican’s nativity scene on Tuesday night.

It seemed like the woman would not release Francis’ hand, so the pontiff slapped her hand before pulling his free. Frowning in anger, he turned and strode away.

The slap wasn’t much, rather the face he showed afterwards really gave him away.

Point blank, John Paul II wouldn’t have done it in the first place.
This guy is a poseur.

“he acted as any normal person would”

I don’t know whats normal but I definitely have seen plenty of people who did not react like that but were far more patient.

Meanwhile Pope John Paul II, now a saint, was shot and almost died, and the first thing he did after getting out of the hospital was to go to the jai and sit down with his assassin, and forgave him.

I did see the video & do not blame the man. She was being a tiger oriental. She nearly pulled him off his feet. If he was frail he would have fallen down. The woman was out of line & his response more reflexive.

He is called the “vicar of Christ” which means “substitute for Christ.”

It means being a representative of Christ, not His substitute.

btw, in the RCC only the pope is called the Vicar of Christ. Priests are merely called priests, but are they not “representatives” as well. The church of England says so, seeing as how their priests are called, “vicars.”
