MOSCOW (Reuters) - Russia said on Sunday it had thwarted terrorism attacks reportedly planned in St. Petersburg thanks to a tip from Washington, bringing personal thanks again from President Vladimir Putin to his U.S. counterpart Donald Trump.

Russian news agencies cited the Federal Security Service (FSB) as saying that thanks to the information, two Russians were detained on Dec. 27 on suspicion of plotting attacks during New Year festivities in St. Petersburg.

The Kremlin said Putin passed on his gratitude to Trump during a phone call on Sunday for the tip from U.S. special services. It gave no more details.

Wonder if there was a whistle blower in the room and if this call will be brought before the Judiciary Committee. Talking to PUTIN.

Interesting how Putin TAKES SERIOUSLY our tips, while our PC Deep State ignores tips from Russia if they involve Muslim terrorism, as in the Boston Marathon bombing...I guess our Deep State prefers seeing dead Americans.

“Democrats are more of a threat to this country than Putin ever was.”

Actually Russia is a huge threat to us, given their weapons, but only if people like Hillary want to prod them.

...come to think of it, that’s your point.

Should mock Obama by citing “ more flexibility after reelection”

I realized today that the Russians took over Crimea in 2014 - Under Obama’s watch. That makes me wonder what he meant by “Tell Vlad I will have more flexibility after the election (2012)” Obama also did not authorize the sale of Javelin tank busters to Ukraine, but Trump did.

SO - if the “existential threat” (I hate that phrase) and “national security” of our nation are dependent upon fighting Putin in Ukraine - Obama was a far worse Prez than Trump and far more SUSPECT as well. Of course, we all know this, but if you asked a lib about it he would say it’s one of our conspiracy theories.

Russia and US could easily ratify a treaty between them that halves our respective strategic stockpiles. We could even achieve a reduction in total number of nukes, with a cap of 1,000 of any sort. And establish effective verification regimes.

The hard part would be getting the US to agree.

Well, of course he did. Trump and Putin are joined at the hip. Just ask Schiff-for-Brains and Nazi Pelosi.

We have in the past. But don’t forget China, they’d love to fill the gap. As to reducing nukes, that’s ok, but the key, of course, is minimizing or eliminating MIRVs, since those are hair-trigger weapons.

“But don’t forget China, they’d love to fill the gap.”

China has around 300 nukes total. Only about 75 of which have delivery systems that can reach the entire US.

It would not be hard to see that build up. And the Chinese would likely advertise it.

As for MIRVs, they are just another warhead but they are clustered and concentrated, therefore subject to Counter Force. Thus your assertion they are “hair-trigger weapons”.

All that said, the US arsenal is hardly purely defensive, or just for deterrence. The US has developed an arsenal that is capable of true Counter Force.

The ability to destroy most of theirs before they get out of the ground. And the ability to quickly sink their SLBM force.

Hope Putin repays the favor. Any transcript would be subject to executive privilege, but Trump would have been wise not to have had one made. He does not have to operate in a public goldfish bowl.
