What price does the republic pay for Trump resistance at all costs?
The Chicago Tribune ^ | December18, 2019 | John Kass

Posted on 12/18/2019 6:30:29 AM PST by PBRCat

“And look at impeachment,” Strassel told me. “This is the watering down of a very sacred process in the Constitution, and we are setting ourselves up to, at some point, decide we’ll use impeachment anytime we want to settle political differences, and it was never supposed to be this way.

“These are all boundaries that have been transgressed by a resistance that is allowed to take these steps because they just don’t like Donald Trump.”

“They’ve never accepted the results of that election and believe they can take any action they want, and they’ve been trying to overturn the results of that election, whether it be through impeachment or the Mueller investigation..."

“I keep reminding my friends on the left, that at some point, maybe in the near future, there’s going to be a Democratic president and a Republican House," Strassel said, “and the standards they are setting here are very scary for the nation.”

They believe they can take this action, because they are no longer Americans.

They are destroying the country...and that’s a good thing because the country that exists here next won’t put up with the kind of crap this one has.

Strassel is correct and whats more I believe the Left doesn’t care if every President from now on gets “impeached”. They are trying to totally destroy our system of governing so they can replace it with the proven to fail system they worship.

Their method is to attack and make meaningless everything the Founders set in place in he hopes they will be able to convince people the Founders were all wrong and only they can “fix: what has gone wrong and they will depend on the ignorance of the citizens to succeed.

If a president can be impeached for “obstructing Congress,” then every president who vetoes a bill will be committing an impeachable offense. And probably every president since Washington has been accused at one time or another of “abuse of power.”

From now on, every president whose party loses control of Congress will likely be impeached.

More than enough for a revolt. Should be a million or so American’s up there surrounding the House daring them to show their face.

Since we are so polite though we just wait until Nov.

If “journalists” were not propagandists , perhaps a few might wonder and investigate just how much money and by whom is being funneled to Democrats in “swing” districts to guarantee their vote for impeachment.

Not only that Congress is claiming the power now to impeach any Supreme Court Justice for “Obstructing Congress” any time they vote to overturn any act of Congress.

It nothing but a naked power grab where by Congress is declaring Congress to be the dominate body and all other supposed “Co Equal” branches are to be subservient to it.

Oh, chitcago trib. No surprise there.

The Tribune is mostly garbage. John Kass is their one true conservative and an excellent columnist. The whole article is worth a read.

“These are all boundaries that have been transgressed by a resistance that is allowed to take these steps because they just don’t like Donald Trump.”

This is why I think the emphasis should be on "High crimes and misdemeanors". What is the crime? What specific piece of law was violated by the president? And how does that relate to the specific articles of impeachment that the House will vote out?

Some people tell me that impeachment is political and does not actually require a crime. I don't buy it. If we go that way, then impeachment is just a vote of "no confidence". And our system does not have that.

this whole thing is an absolute *yawn* fest. Don’t really care honestly at this point. Trump will be acquitted soon and this whole waste of time will be over.

What specific piece of law was violated by the president?”

None

At least with Clinton, he did break the law. Perhaps it could be argued doing perjury in that context (ie, about consensual sex) is not “impeachable”. But it was a crime, and he was subsequently disbarred for it.

Here?

Nothing.

Just asking Ukraine to engage in a little law enforcement (which obviously every treaty, including US/Ukraine, allows parties to do) against a VERY corrupt US citizen while in that country.

That’s not a crime.

It’s a virtue. It was a good thing to ask.

The seditious conspirators must be tried and many put to death for the crime against the Republic.

Such action must be punished with death.

The presidency itself is being severaly damaged by this highly partisan act of resistance. This should alarm everyone in this country.

The future ramifications of this insanity are truly frightening, not to mention the deep and lasting divisiveness it will give rise to.

The nation is taking a giant step backward today.

“If two or more persons in any State or Territory, or in any place subject to the jurisdiction of the United States, conspire to overthrow, put down, OR to destroy by force the Government of the United States......SEDITIOUS CONSPIRACY”

Exactly what the President has said this is

“A FRIVOLOUS impeachment vote is a SEDITIOUS CONSPIRACY”

The Senate shouldn’t even take it up. Ignore it. What are the Dems gonna do? stamp their feet?

McConnell should throw a press conference..with a big trashcan present to throw the “articles” of impeachment into it

The jury is still out on that price.

It could cost as much as having to go through CW II.
