COEUR dALENE, Idaho From her office next to the public computer terminals, Bette Ammon finds herself peering through a window to watch patrons moving through the Coeur dAlene librarys nonfiction stacks.
Someone has been hiding books lately specifically, those that explore politics through a progressive lens, or criticize President Trump. They wind up misfiled in out-of-the-way corners where readers will be sure not to find them.
I am going to continue hiding these books in the most obscure places I can find to keep this propaganda out of the hands of young minds, the mystery book relocator wrote in a note left for Ms. Ammon, the library director, in the facilitys comment box. Your liberal angst gives me great pleasure.
For decades, Coeur dAlene has navigated a delicate political landscape in northern Idaho, a conservative corner of the country where some have sought refuge from political and social changes elsewhere.
The incidents over this past year including a missing book that was discovered only this week were not the first time books have mysteriously disappeared. Thirty years ago, the library lost so many books on human rights to theft that they had to be placed in a locked cabinet. The latest works to be targeted cover a wide range of topics, from gun control and womens suffrage to LGBTQ issues and how people of color fare in the criminal justice system. About half the books specifically deal with President Trump.
While none of the books in the latest incidents appear to have been stolen, some have been hidden in ways that made it nearly impossible to find them when patrons wanted to check them out. They have been discovered inexplicably filed in the wrong sections, hidden behind a row of Stuart Woods novels

If "anti-Trump" books are like the news stories from the MSM, they should be classed as "fiction."
Was there, perhaps, an “oo-rah” or “Semper Fi” in the note?
It’s got to be a FReeper doing this. LOL!
Interesting how people are hiding such books. This may give ideas to the liberals, to hide books by Rush Limbaugh or Mark Levin, among others. Tit for tat is a liberal value.
Except that they have already been doing that for years.
Maybe, could be! I do the same thing at Costco and other places books are sold. If it's liberal/progressive, I bury it or cover it with conservative books. Especially if it's a Hillary book, gotta bury those!
“Tit for tat is a liberal value.”

True, but nobody should be proud of being involved in stupidity like this.
They’re all in the fiction section.
Your secret is safe with me.;)
I’ve been known to turn Costco’s Hillary books around to keep her image on the front cover from traumatizing young children.
The librarians hide pro Trump books, if they buy them at all. Even the best sellers.
Recently I went to our local library and made a stink over that and afterwards they included some conservative books in the promotional stacks by the entry.
Leftists have been doing this to conservative authors for ages. It's one of their trademark forms of "non-violent protest."
Inside job.
Don’t forget the adults. The sight of her cankles traumatizes many men.
I expected this to be about someone hiding Pro-Trump books.
I was thinking: “(Unfortunately) I didn’t think there were even that many pro-Trump books to need hiding over months of concealment.”
Whoever is doing this will eventually be found out.
There are several ways to bait them to certain locations.
Maybe the book could be tied to a very thin wire that will silently take the ‘Book Taker’s picture and post it online. Lol! “Gotcha!!”
I cover over them in bookstores all the time!
Conservative books are always spine out. Liberal tomes have the face out.
I just reverse their placement or put Reagan biographies over Hillary titles.
Fewer bookstores around now though.
“This may give ideas to the liberals, to hide books by Rush Limbaugh or Mark Levin, among others.”
No need to hide them, they don’t buy them to start with.
Inside job? Then you wonder what’s going on, as librarians have a reputation of being liberal. And a liberal wouldn’t hide such books. Who knows, a conservative “mole”, library worker is at work????
We're talking Democrats. They don't deal in honesty, why should we? You don't win wars by being nice, and we are in a war to save the Constitution.
