California governor Gavin Newsom on Wednesday announced that he has signed a law banning hotels from providing guests with the small, disposable plastic bottles containing personal-care products such as shampoo and conditioner that are a common staple of the industry.
The ban on plastic bottles holding less than six ounces will go into effect on January 1, 2023 for hotels with more than 50 rooms, and one year after that for hotels with 50 or fewer rooms. The law allows a local agency to conduct inspections and issue citations if hotels do not comply. A first violation carries a $500 fine and a second carries a $2,000 fine...

It must be hell to live in a state where politicians tell you what you can and can’t do. It’s definitely not the American way of life and people who live under a system like that should never refer to themselves as Americans because they are far from it.
Hotels here will have a lot of guests running around with dirty hair.
I once read that such amenities are standard in Asian hotels. We are going to look pretty backwards to them — no shampoo, no straws, no power, homeless encampments, etc.

Clearly California is grappling with the important policy questions, when they are passing laws like this in the middle of a significant self-imposed power outage . . .
Who would want to even visit? Get typhus...TB...step on a needle and poop..see crazy people slowly die on the thoroughfares...know that many in the population think that they have disease on the run...place is getting dumber by the day.
They will have a big trough of the stuff at the desk.
Just dip out a handful and carry it back to your room.
The first sea turtle that shows a couple of these needles/syringes protruding from it’s shell in a photo are going to cause a firestorm...or a crow or some bird incorporating a few of these into their nests.
