Climate change activist Greta Thunberg's stare a Donald Trump as he entered the UN has become a social media meme.
The Swedish eco-warrior addressed the United Nations Climate Summit in New York on Monday telling delegates 'you have stolen my dreams and my childhood'.
The schoolgirl was seen at the UN headquarters yesterday morning with an enraged expression on her face as President Trump upstaged her entrance by walking in flanked by news reporters.
She could be seen fiercely staring at the US president as he walked by and into the UN General Assembly.
Social media instantly exploded with memes featuring the 16-year-old's 'death stare' at the most powerful person in the world.

I agree. This truly IS child abuse. It's also amazing that a group calling itself ANTIFAscist is using violence to suppress the freedom of expression and self-determinism of those they don't agree with or like. That sounds fascist to me.

The teen years are supposed to be a time when kids start to really sort out who they are, what they believe vs what their parents taught them. Perhaps most importantly, this (used to be) all within the safety net of a family and close friends. I am
glad nobody gave me the time of day when I was 16, let alone recorded me and gave me a platform to spew whatever teenage wisdom entered my mind.
Maybe this child (who apparently has Asperger's) will grow up and join the NRA. Maybe she will become a lifelong environmentalist. Maybe she will fade into obscurity and become a librarian. The possibilities are endless.
Perhaps THE primary job of a parent is to protect their child - often from predators, but sometimes from themself. If there is regret on the part of this girl, she won't have the benefit I have of obscurity. That is, her 16-year old self will be on YouTube etc forever. Forgetting about the future, look at what's happening now - She's getting torched and championed internationally.
Where are the parents? I read that her parents basically acquiesced to Greta's passions (they went vegan after Greta basically browbeat them about robbing her future). I am certain that having a special needs child isn't easy, but this is all the more reason why the parents should protect her. These parents are basically letting their child run the show. Maybe they feel good about their caring and nurturing parenting methods, but I find it reprehensible that they let her go off with disregard (or worse, a tacit OK) to her being targeted by the opposition OR predators.
Shame on her parents, and I'd say the same thing if Greta was a rabid gun enthusiast...16 years olds should be raised, not willingly turned into a global punching bag.

Some is trying to make her out to be a joan of arc figure. She has asperger syndrome. She is being manipulated by some evil group who plan to hide behind her illness which makes it and both her age and sex a shield to any criticism. Unless she can show some advanced degree from MIT or a similar institution in a hard science I give her as much credence as I would a sparrow.
