A federal judge on Thursday ordered the sex trafficking case in New York against Jeffrey Epstein to be dismissed following the financier's death in a Manhattan jail earlier this month.
U.S. District Judge Richard Berman signed a "nolle prosequi," ruling that the case will be dismissed, according to a copy of the document obtained by The Hill.
Because Jeffrey Epstein, the defendant, died while this case was pending, and therefore before a final judgment was issued, the Indictment must be dismissed under the rule of abatement, the filing reads.
The ruling does not mean that federal prosecutors can't still pursue a conspiracy investigation surrounding the allegations against Epstein, NBC News reported.
Prosecutors had maintained earlier this month that Epstein's apparent suicide would not stop efforts to pursue justice for alleged victims in the case.
Berman had previously said he would allow the criminal case against Epstein to continue until after the disgraced financier's accusers had a chance to testify in court.

What happened to his body?
Was there a funeral?
Was there a burial?
Cremation?
Raised from the dead?...................
He ruled that it was over the day before Epstein was charged
/s
It’s over. This is not the pedophile you were looking for. Move along.
Was it a Bill Clinton appointed judge?
If a man commits suicide in prison and nobody saw it is he still dead?.....................
“What happened to his body?”
Sitting on the beach in some country!
He got his orders.
I suspect there are far, far too many well known politicians and business leaders connected to the FILTHY SWAMP that Epstein created and ran.
america with a small”a”.....what a crock....
What body?
I don’t believe in conspiracies but this was blatantly a conspiracy to protect prominent Democrats.
Why can’t they review the evidence and go after the Johns?
It was all planned.
The powers we are fighting are much more powerful than Clinton or Soros.
Makes you wonder who is really pulling the strings.
Now we have a court proceeding where accusers testify against a dead man. So much for the right to confront your accusers. This should have ended the minute he died.
Was this sua sponte?
Or did somebody bring a motion to dismiss?
Just as slick as dropping a plastic bottle in the trash.
The powerful people involved in this think they will never pay. Surprise coming the day they die.
Can they reopen the case if he is found alive (raised from the dead)?
"The fix is in!"
