RBG scare: David Axelrod warns Supreme Court vacancy fight could 'tear this country apart'
Washington Examiner ^ | Aug. 23, 2019 | Daniel Chaitin

That didn't take long.

A former Obama adviser set the stage for a potentially nasty confirmation fight in the Senate next year within an hour of the Supreme Court announcing Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg recently completed three weeks of radiation treatment after doctors found a localized cancerous tumor on her pancreas.

* * *

Ginsburg, who is 86, has battled various illnesses over the last 20 years. The Supreme Court said in a statement Friday that she “tolerated the treatment well" and concluded that there is no evidence of disease elsewhere in her body.

Many years ago, I calculated the life spans of the signers of the Declaration of Independence. It clocked in at around 63-65, to the best of my recollection.

Of course, you’re talking about upper-class males, who would have been well fed and spared from dangerous physical labor. On the other hand, medical practice was primitive — just read about what George Washington’s doctors inflicted on him before he passed away at age 67.

Abortion has torn this country apart. And we allowed it and still do. God permits free will...to our own suffering end.

Axelrod’s threat reminds me of a certain scene in Blazing Saddles. It’s HIS side which will further tear itself apart if they lose more seats in SCOTUS. Our side will simply unify more in response to their lunacy.

Bring

It

On

Kavanaugh is a moderate (slightly to the right of Roberts, but to the left of Alito), but Gorsuch is not. Gorsuch is an originalist. He often votes with Justice Thomas, who is a quintessential originalist, in cases where other justices vote differently (see Tennessee Wine and Spirits Retailers Assn. v. Thomas, Flowers v. Mississippi, Lorenzo v. SEC, BNSF R. Co. v. Loos). Gorsuch and Thomas also often join their concurrences.

His opinion in Bucklew v. Precythe on what a “cruel and unusual punishment” in relation to death penalty means is pure originalism.

Yes, in some cases (mostly criminal) he votes with the leftist justices, but it’s only because he believes that criminal law should not be vague. It is a legitimate view from the conservative perspective because vague laws give the government too much power over the citizens. Justice Alito is the opposite because he seems to support “law and order” at all costs (for example he is unreliable on the Fourth Amendment).

Republican presidents are at fault too. Many times they nominated bad candidates. President Reagan nominated Sandra Day O’Connor when he had a Republican majority in the Senate. President George H. W. Bush nominated David Souter instead of Edith Jones, who is a rock-ribbed conservative and who is said to be a runner-up for that vacancy. President George W. Bush nominated John Roberts instead of Michael Luttig, who would be much better.

Was Brett Kavanaugh the best candidate for Anthony Kennedy’s seat? Personally, I would have chosen David Stras, who was Clarence Thomas’ clerk, but seems to be well-liked and uncontroversial, instead of Brett Kavanaugh.

Same with FDR. The public was told he had the flu when in actuality, he had malignant hypertension and heart failure. His doctors knew he was dying but never told anyone, even VP Truman. The RAT apparachick is good at covering up.

So be it. It has been 150+ years since the last civil war.

To quote Clemenza, “Probably all the other Families will line up against us. That’s all right. These things gotta happen every five years or so, ten years. Helps to get rid of the bad blood. Been ten years since the last one. You know, you gotta stop them at the beginning. Like they should have stopped Hitler at Munich, they should never let him get away with that, they was just asking for trouble.”

The left is asking for trouble. So let’s stop them at the beginning.

RBG is a purely partisan, biased ideologue. Any sensible judge in her physical and mental condition would have resigned years ago. But she held on, expecting a Hillary Clinton victory, so she could resign under a Clinton regime, and bboth of them could parade their feminist credentials for all America to see.

Isn’t it scary that we don’t hear about her condition until weeks or months later? We’re led to believe that she’s doing cartwheels, but the reality is that she could be gone at any moment.

Pancreatic cancer is one of the ugliest cancers there is. The “cure” rate is close to zero.

True. My brother-in-law lasted 6 months -- young, vivacious guy -- passed at 52 years of age. It is indeed an ugly cancer!

In the words of the late R. Lee Ermey: “You’ve been reborn hard!”

They are DANGEROUS!!! They want to turn the USA into Nuevo Zimbabwe-Mexico. They would, without ANY hesitation, exterminate ANYONE who isn’t a true believer.

....two more fanciful judges is another $416,000 a year of taxpayer money plus several times that for staff cost. That’s the wrong direction to go for those of us that believe that the federal government should every day be CUT not ADDED to.

But, again, I agree with you, whatever it takes to get these OLD GOATS out after 20 years MAX, I’m for. I think maybe we should say they must be at least 45 when appointed and then for a 20 year term. Plus, maybe there should be some medical restrictions.

Yep. Hate is the only thing keeping her alive. What person in their right mind would continue to work at her age and health? She’s plenty wealthy so no need to work. She will die before allowing Trump to replace her.
