Dayton Police Chief Richard Biehl has said that Megan and her boyfriend were not in a car when they were found dead. At the time of writing, Megans boyfriend has not been identified.
Authorities believe that Conor Betts opened fire on a crowd at a bar in Daytons Oregon District, killing nine people and wounding dozens more. Megan Betts was one of those who was shot dead. The use of the term of art of “News Stories” always has driven me crazy.
Reporters should write Reports.
Gerbilists should write Opinion Pieces in their Journals.
And Fiction Writers should write Stories and Non-Fiction Writers should “tell” Stories.
He was autistic/aspbergers
They have no empathy, warmth, cant form relationships etc
They have no self control
Like babies who are a tad more cognizant and respond with violent outbursts
Sister probably scolded him and then bam!
I’d bet money the feds had at least one of these shooters on their “watch” list. Or rather “do nothing” list.
The Boston Bombers were on the “watch” list. Russia, England and Saudi Arabia told Mueller time and time again about them and he did nothing.
The San Bernardino shooters were on the “watch” list, etc. I was listening to the police scanner online and heard one cop say they’d been told about the guy two weeks prior.
“... its never happy circumstances, is it...”
So true, FRiend.
And that’s the problem!
The truth is we really can’t treat mental illness very well at all. Its not like treating the flu. Pretending that it is leads to these kind of things.
Well the media is asking the question “was this a copycat crime?” Obviously not. Regular gun owners like me who like to shoot targets and occasionally go hunting do not own bullet-proof vests (as has been reported that he was wearing).
Unless he bought the vest in the few hours after El Paso - he was planning something like this for awhile. A Nut.
Narratives...
For the non-Fiction Writers.
Of course.
What meds was he off?
Yeah, I had the same frustration until I went back and realized the reporter was just trying to cite two conflicting accounts:
“NBC News Pete Williams reported, via, Andrew Blankstein, that Megan and her boyfriend had been found fatally shot in a car. Dayton Police Chief Richard Biehl has said that Megan and her boyfriend were not in a car when they were found dead.”
Inserting a sentence after the first sentence along the lines of “However, this conflicts with information on the couple from Dayton police.” would have helped the reader understand that there were differing reports.
Of course, choosing who to believe between NBC News and the Dayton Police Department isn’t going to be particularly difficult.
because it is not PC. You’ll get backlash here, too.
I agree with you, by the way.
It's the signal to noise ratio is overwhelming. Real threats fall through the cracks because everyone is reporting everything. "FBI, I need to report a man speaking a funny language. He might be a terrorist." This stuff.
He voted in special, primary and general elections. For his age, he voted a LOT. Registered Democrat.
Yep!
and now famous!
another possible motivation.
yes, that was not right! i don’t know why RR did that.
this is the world that the leftists have created. Hate filled, full of death, destruction and depravity.

I find this very dangerous to place the blame on people with autism. I have a son with autism and he can barely tie his shoes, much less plot and kill and even know HOW to use a gun to harm anyone. Once we start blaming one group or another for this violence, we’re doing the same thing they’re doing on the Left. Soon it will be dangerous to be white, autistic, Christian, pro-gun, or conservative ....keep labeling and see what good any of that does.
Bingo. There is very actual news reporting today. Very little. The factual “who, what, when, and where” news reporting I grew up with decades ago just does not exist in this modern PC climate where 97% of journalists are Democrats.
Autism has a wide spectrum of behaviors.
I saw 8 or so. I guess that is a lot.
