Don’t put any weight to that claim, I think people are confused by a discussion on another thread. I cannot find any original source for that claim...it certainly wasn’t in the article that inspired the thread...which only said he shot his sister and others on the street outside the bar Peppers. (A journalist seems to have confused the word bar with car.)

These kids have been Ritalinized since 2nd grade then it stops when they leave HS. We would have parents of our special ed kids, the disrupters not academically challenged, whose parents would withhold their morning dose and then double up when the kid got home. You should have seen those kids around 1030 AM. Imagine cold turkey at 18 or 19. And now boys are Ritalinized for acting like 10 year old boys. Volcanoes waiting to explode.

Now the question is whether the sister and boyfriend were specifically targeted, or just got caught up in the general mayhem and confusion.

_________

Yes.... that is the question.

I wonder how many studies the CIA and FBI and other alphabet agencies have done on how to target loose cannons and push them to act.

Just by turning up the rhetoric.

Read again. That is exactly what I meant.

Registration initials mean nothing in states with “open primaries”.

Most people with autism are like most people without autism RE violence. They don’t want to hurt people. Even if you see an upset person in a meltdown with autism, they usually won’t hurt others. They are not more likely to shoot up a public place. In fact,, they are generally so logical they wouldn’t see it as a good solution to a problem.

The feeling, the emotion, that no one cares or that everyone has wronged you, anger at society, happens to all kinds of people and does lead to stupid violent thoughts. Most of the violent offenders do not fall on the autism spectrum.

Police arrested a 23-year-old man following a pursuit that went through Moraine before ending on Broadway Street near Stewart Street Monday night, according to jail records.

Thomas McNichols was taken into custody around 5:45 p.m. and was booked into the Montgomery County Jail on obstructing official business and fleeing and eluding charges, records indicated.

McNichols appeared in Kettering Municipal Court this morning and pleaded not guilty to the charges.

We’ve reached out to Moraine police to ask why police were chasing McNichols, but have not heard back yet.

McNichols is scheduled for a pretrial hearing on Thursday

This guy was a known risk. According to a previous principal he had been suspended for writing a hit-list on the bathroom wall and for having a plan to shoot up the school.

The way we deal with risky mentally ill is just fold our hands and wait patiently until they kill a bunch of people.

Placing mentally deranged people in asylums and mental health care facilities was branded as “Warehousing” them and cruel imprisonment during the Carter years and most such facilities were shut down and those people were dumped on the street. We see many of them living under bridges now along with the con-artist panhandlers.

I believe it was the Reagan years. Again mass media played a role. Apparently The Cuckoo’s Nest film had a huge influence on putting the unsafely mentally ill out on the streets and no more warehousing.

If the country would please discuss this dispassionately, I’m sure we could come up with a way to choose the worst risks and take them out of society for mandatory rehab to get them decent for society again, if possible.

Autism/Aspberger's? Way to broad-brush it when it's the least likely diagnosis. (Are you a doc or talking out your backside on this, huh?)

Meltdowns aren't violent outbursts. Those fall to the malevolent narcissists - those who give zero f* towards anyone else if it doesn't benefit them. Meltdowns are when they are overwhelmed and can't cope.

Can't cope? Sure they can once you take them out of the situation and give time to calm down. It's the same with any kid who has had too much and can't self-regulate.

And way to take a dump on my very happy marriage with my Freeper husband who is such and has a wonderful relationship with me and so many others.

Maybe looking at the kids who aren't taught how to adapt, the dads who think beating a child because they aren't behaving exactly right, or more likely being neglected and abused. Why not look at the parents who can't be bothered to give a child what they need, including outlets and others to associate with.

Because getting to the point of shooting up a bar or store is anger that has been cultivated and nursed for years. It's the rage that they aren't the center of someone's attention. It's violence that is irrational. It's fury that you aren't taken seriously.

Blaming autistic people is rubbish and (bollocks.)

It’s not that simple. And 10 year old boys have a range of behaviors. There is a very big majority in the bell curve of 10 year old behaviors that would never be thought to need medical help. Parents do not wish to drug their children. Schools are not allowed to force meds on kids. Doctors often want to, but that is their deal.

No one ritalinizes normal 10 year old boys. Kids have a lot more behavioral issues today, sometimes from home life but mostly from malfunctioning brains - a change of diet for the child would possibly cure many. Drugs are as a last resort.

“I cannot imagine what the parents are feeling.”

That is my thought too. Can’t imagine having to bury BOTH YOUR CHILDREN. How horrible.
