Yes, that is stupid. When the electricity fails (happens a lot here in the Bay Area), I can still use my natural gas stove to cook food and boil water, as well as have hot showers (natural gas water heater). Next, they'll ban electricity - stone age all over again!

Its even worse. The term maintenance holes is non_specific and could lead to confusion. I prefer “vertical access shaft for underground utilities”.
A maintenance hole could be anywhere, any orientation, giving access to who knows what.
And what will A-holes be called?
That’s right: City Government.
Ok; let’s call them VASfUUs. That’ll make everything clear... as mud ;-)
Surprised they can even flush toilets in SF or CA considering this wording bothers the snowflakes this much.
