* Job openings in Kansas City area *
By scientists I'm assuming they mean career bureaucrats.

Moving these researchers out of Washington puts them out of earshot from policymakers.
Its called a telephone, science lady. Maybe youve heard of them.

Critics see the move, set to be completed by Sept. 30, as yet another example of the Trump administration looking to sideline scientists and researchers, keeping them away from the corridors of power. So these *scientists* are in it for the power, eh?
Then they are not scientists.
I'm sure there is plenty of fresh blood to take their places.

Alaska’s North Slope would be a great place for many alphabet agencies.

A Trump administration decision to move researchers from the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) to the Kansas City area is threatening to spark the flight of more than half of the staff selected to move, gutting the agency of its top scientific voices. Headcount reduction was the reason for the move to begin with.

Welcome to the world of everyone who doesn’t live in DC, Rebecca.

Is there any key reason why so many federal agencies seem to be headquartered in the Washington DC area?
While moving can be a pain, I can see some benefits to employees. For example, they would have a higher standard of living in KC, assuming they have the same salary and benefits, compared to their lives in expensive metropolitan Washington.
To: yesthatjallen
Good, don’t replace them.
Government agencies have 5 times the number of people than they need.
