ABC, CBS and NBC will not show Donald Trump's 'Salute to America' on the Fourth of July instead of their nightly newscasts

However, the networks will air the Independence Day celebration on their respective online and app streaming platforms

Fox News will have a two-hour special on the event and C-SPAN will air it live

CNN hasn't commented on its plans for the hour-long event, kicking off on the National Mall at 6.30pm

Trump touted his 'Salute to America' as being 'like no other' and plans to give a speech at the Lincoln Memorial as he shows off the US military's might

I am not all bent out of shape over this. Why should the networks show it? If it was not already set up as a 4th of July entertainment event (like PBS' "A Capitol 4th", which is on every year, and other network 4th of July specials), why should ABC show it?

I seldom watch those shows anyway. I am very old school and prefer to listen to Sousa music on the 4th. I did watch one last year that I believe POTUS and FLOTUS attended.

Maybe 1-3 times in a calendar month when it is not football season. The only thing I can see on a screen that just IS what it is itself without a script or a slant is live sports.

It’s telling that skipping through the non-performance schlock lets you watch a two hour America’s Got Talent in like half an hour. Same applies to The Voice and

My TIVO dvr picked up an automatic skip function on the last upgrade. Now, I don’t even have to fast forward through commercials on many shows; the device whacks them for me.
