James Fields Jr., the white supremacist who murdered a woman two summers ago when he steered a Dodge Challenger into a crowd of peaceful demonstrators in Charlottesville, Va., was sentenced Friday to life in federal prison.
Lawyers for Mr. Fields, 22, had pleaded for mercy, citing his difficult childhood and mental health problems. Prosecutors had sought the life sentence, arguing that Mr. Fields’s racist, anti-Semitic beliefs motivated the decision to attend the white supremacist rally in Charlottesville and to attack counterprotesters, killing Heather Heyer and injuring dozens of others.
“The defendant’s crimes were so horrendous — and the maiming of innocents so severe — that they outweigh any factors the defendant may argue form a basis for leniency,” federal prosecutors told the judge in a sentencing memo. “This is particularly true in light of the fact that he has demonstrated that he feels no remorse for his actions and continues to espouse his hateful ideology.”

Mr. Fields was convicted separately in state court of first-degree murder in December, and jurors recommended a life sentence. A judge will decide in the coming weeks whether to accept that recommendation.

There’s video out there, or there was, that showed exactly what happened. His car never came withing 30 feet of the woman who died. A woman who was probably 400 pounds and beet red prior to his car coming down the road. This guy was the definition of railroaded.

I am not condoning what he did, but that line right there has to be the biggest bunch of crap that I ever read. Who didn’t see the pictures of Antifa thugs carrying clubs.
He admitted to deliberately driving into the crowd. Whether or not his car touched her she wound up dead as a result of his actions.
Had he thrown her off a balcony when she was a kid, he would only get 19 years.

Yup, she it not the person in the video that got hit and it wasn’t an instant death hit. More like a fracture or two and some bruises. She was fat and died of a heart attack from the heat and excitement, running with the antifa pack and being fat.
I saw a video of antifa in Seattle in the area that they take over on occasion and the antifa girl, fat, was huffing on an inhaler in between cussing out drivers that were pissed about the traffic jam and antifa detour.

That’s the way it looks to me too. He must have the world’s worst legal team, if there’s no corruption in the court system where this was tried. From what I saw in the video, he didn’t go hell bent for leather to hit anyone, just seemed to be trying to escape a violent crowd surrounding his car (similar to what was happening during the good ol’ days of Hussein to Trump supporters) and at the point he accelerated, an antifa-American successfully breaking one of his windows with a baseball bat, or something. Am I wrong?
Yep—the charge should have been short of first-degree murder, there was no evidence of premeditation.
This escalated Charlottesville way beyond what it would’ve been otherwise
the senseless death of that poor young woman was very Traumatic for the nation.
What’s even worse and should never get forgotten is how they were multiple Al law-enforcement officers that were killed in a helicopter is trying to get to the scene
Let’s not forget that this was all caused by these groups of leftists trying to tear down monuments to the south in the Civil War

The penalty for first degree murder in Virginia is 20 years to life. The eight counts of malicious wounding are worth 5 to 20 years each. Hit and run will get you up to 10 years. Had a leftist done this outside a Trump rally there is no reason to believe their penalty would have been less.

Those videos, once on YouTube, are deep down the Memory Hole by now.
They did raise a lot of questions. And you didn’t have to be a conspiracy theorist to see questions raised. My personal favorite was the vehicle parked at the stop sign at the end of the one-way street where the incident occurred, creating a bottleneck.
That vehicle was just abandoned, no owner lurking around saying “my ride stalled out”, and the history of the vehicle indicated it didn’t really have an owner and had a nameless salvage history from a state in the midwest.

Yep. Not to mention that his vehicle was being attacked by an armed mob before he accelerated, so this wasn’t some kind of premeditated attack, it was an attempt to escape.
Not just carrying them. There is video of them striking his vehicle with weapons moments before he accelerated. They were trying to smash his windows in.
