A large primary field may fragment the vote, making it unlikely that a candidate could win a majority and avoid a runoff and making it easier for Moore to advance to a runoff with only the support of his base.
The point is that Moore does have a path especially a path to a primary runoff if theres a crowded GOP field. And if he does get there, he would be only one step away from a rematch with Jones.
Moore would still have a decent chance of winning a general election in conservative Alabama, and that is surely a big part of why hes running again.

Independents didn’t pick Moore. Conservative Republicans did.
If that is the case, then why did Moore lose?
Wasn’t Moore on the Alabama Supreme Court twice?
Once he resigned over a Federal court ruling?
The other time he was impeached! Why was he impeached? I’ve heard two stories. Alabamians what are the facts? Both cases!
Strange would never have won the general with that corruption hanging over his head. It’s baffling that he has not been indicted for obstruction of justice as AG. Too many ignorant people on this thread have not a clue what was going on in Alabama in 2017. They also don’t comprehend why the corrupt establishment had their knives out to filet Moore for taking out Strange. Moore was the anti-corruption and anti-establishment candidate. The RINOs preferred having a Communist Demonrat Senator to someone who would expose their corruption and political machine.
Akin lost when people realized how F’ing stupid he was.
Nonsense...
He had the media, the RNC, the GOPe, the DNC, our members in the Senate, and the House slamming him.
They ran robocalls against him the day before the election, and possibly on election day as well.
Now you’ve determined he was just a lousy candidate.
Even you must see SOME weakness in your premise, blaming it all on him.
It’s remarkable how close he came.
If sworn affidavits are so important to you, shouldn't we believe all sworn affidavits?

And were utterly without merit. Because, after all, women never make false allegations against Republicans. Just ask Justices Clarence Thomas and Kavanaugh.
I think he was impeached because he wouldn’t enforce same sex marriage after the USSC made it the law.
Asked and answered repeatedly. You’re reaching “troll” level on this thread, ma’am.
Obviously I was in the majority in AL because Moore lost. All they have in AL is conservative voters. If you read these Moore threads more are against him than for him, including the President himself who says he doesn’t want Moore to run.
Dick Nixon ran for President and lost. Then eight years later he ran again and won. He was a good President and, no, he was not a crook. It can be done if Republicans vote Republican.
Yes. Twice (1/2001-11/2003; 2013-4/2017). He was removed twice for COURAGEOUSLY standing up to the federal judicial thuggery. The first time for standing up for his own first amendment rights on religion, the second time for refusing to abide by the unconstitutional Obergefell edict.
There you go again.
The truth is the truth.
Akin is an idiot who answered a gotcha question with a most absurd answer.
He was too stupid to get around it.
Hell, I don’t even think he saw it.
The objective is to end up with the most conservative candidate that is electable.
Sadly, the GOP establishment does not agree and chose to openly campaign for progressive Democrat Jones in this case. Going so far as to send the 83 year old GOP senior senator from Alabama on a barnstorming tour of the state on election eve to suppress the GOP vote and elect a progressive Democrat.
Given that the GOPe prefer Democrats to conservatives it seems the Buckley rule is dead for good. What’s good for the goose...
Where in the Constitution does it read that the Supreme Court is authorized to enact law[s].?
It is interesting Mo Brooks doesn’t want to run against a wounded Moore again. Doesn’t say much for him, too. Pretty thin GOP bench in Alabama these days, apparently.
I’ll let you know when you speak the truth. Just keep talking out of your butt.
That was what I heard for the resignation not the impeachment.
