Recent UFO Encounters With Navy Pilots Occurred Constantly Across Multiple Squadrons
thedrive.com/the-war-zone ^ | Tyler Rogoway

One of the biggest questions surrounding the most recent known spate of UFO encounters with U.S. Navy pilots—those that occurred off the southeastern seaboard of the United States between 2014 and early 2015—pertains to how persistent they actually were. We know Super Hornet aircrews from Strike Fighter Squadron 11 (VFA-11), the Red Rippers, detected unknown objects multiple times on radar and one aircrew even had a close encounter visually with one of them, but what about the rest of the many Hornet squadrons based at Naval Air Station Oceana, not to mention the E-2 Hawkeye squadrons from nearby NAS Norfolk? We have the answer to this question and it is remarkable.

A source with knowledge of the events has made it clear to The War Zone that presence of the mysterious objects in the restricted training airspace off America's east coast was so pervasive that it was largely common knowledge among local flying units. They noted that the majority of the Super Hornet squadrons equipped with AN/APG-79 Active Electronically Scanned Array (AESA) radars—you can read all about this technology and how it was key in detecting these objects in our exclusive piece on the subject—at the time were having the same experiences, as well as the crews flying the new E-2D Hawkeye with its incredibly powerful AN/APY-9 radar suite. It literally became such a common and near everyday occurrence that Naval Aviators and Naval Flight Officers from the base would talk about it informally with regularity.

But that doesn't mean formal action wasn't taken. Beyond filing an official safety report after one of the jets almost hit one of the unidentified objects—described eerily as a translucent sphere with a cube structure suspended inside of it—Notices To Airman (NOTAMs) were posted regarding the dangers potentially posed by unknown aerial vehicles flying in the same military operating areas that aircraft from NAS Oceana frequented for training. This action was taken by the base's command leadership as they couldn't figure out how else to address the bizarre issue and its perceived threat to their aircrews' safety.

We have since filed Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA) requests for copies of these NOTAMs, as well as documents regarding how the decision to file the NOTAMs was made at the command level.

You raise a good point but using the History Channel to tell our enemies instead of using some other medium more suitable for such seems a bit strange.

I would think our enemies might be unlikely to consider the History Channel a good source of intel re: U.S. weapons development.

“Perhaps a low orbit satellite, perhaps a classic UFO. Who knows but was interesting.”

Twice I’ve seen objects climbing East over the Rockies from Utah. One had a contrail like a string of pearls and I thought ‘Aurora’, the plane that doesn’t exist. The other time I watched a ball of fire climbing until it winked out (I suppose it left the atmosphere). Both went horizon to horizon in 15 seconds or so.

This stuff was picked up by F/A-18 Super Hornets equipped with AN/APG-79 Active Electronically Scanned Array (AESA) radar (visually confirmed by pilots and crew), picked up by the new E-2D Hawkeye with its AN/APY-9 radar suite, and picked up by the U.S.S. Princeton, an Arleigh Burke class of guided missile destroyer built around the Aegis Combat System and the SPY-1D multifunction passive electronically scanned array radar.

As a believing Christian, I am open to that possibility.

Angels or demons...or other.

Trump said he talked to one of those navy pilots and he’s sceptical.

Actually, the President dodged a pointed and potentially embarrassing question by Stephanopoulos (about UFO's and alien) by saying "he didn't particularly believe in UFO's" and that he would leave that up to our pilots.

He wiggled out of trouble and flashed a "duping delight" smile before doing it.

BTW a "duping delight" smile is a dead giveaway that a "lie" is about to be or has been told.

Trump didn't exactly "lie"...he wiggled out of a tight corner.

IIRC, the President didn’t talk with a pilot but was briefed on the subject by his DOD team.

re: “The majority of the Super Hornet squadrons equipped with AN/APG-79 Active Electronically Scanned Array at the time (off of Virginia) were encountering these craft AND so were the new E-2D Hawkeyes (with their AN/APY-9 radar suite).”

Sounds like they were hitting ‘hard’ targets; BIG difference in wavelength from the UHF (400 MHz ~80 cm) band the E-2D uses and the F/A-18 X-band (10 GHz 3 cm) RADARs ...

“Is the military (in this case DOD and the Navy) telling us we have develop such craft? Er, no. That makes absolutely no sense.”

The UFO craze that resulted in Project Blue Book was encouraged to provide an alternate explanation for all kinds of high performance aircraft then in test. There was evidence that the Russians were buying it to an extent. Course that UFO that they were chasing may have been a U-2 .

Its been out months before the History channel started doing stuff. These “tic tac” craft are really nothing new.

The unanswered question is why now is it such a big deal after all the years of ridicule and name shaming. Where is the apology from the DS for dumbing down common sense after all these years. Just what in hell is driving this? Is it a DS diversion? Is it to convince us that we really need the DS now more than ever to defend us, protect us from the bogeyalien?

That said (my article postings), the story momentum has picked up considerably in the last few months and not just with the History Channel series.

As you will note, both the President and the Senate have been briefed within the last week.

As Confucius said (or maybe it was Lao Tze or General Tso), "Sum ting zup."
