DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) – Dallas Police Chief Renee Hall was criticized on social media and by police association leaders on Monday night for a comment she made during a news conference Monday afternoon.

Speaking about two recent homicide cases, Chief Hall said, “There are individuals in this city who have returned from prison who cannot find a job, who are not educated. In those instances those individuals are forced to commit violent acts.”

Full Title: Dallas Police Chief Renee Hall Taking Criticism For Saying Some People Are ‘Forced To Commit Violent Acts’

This is essentially Black Lives Matter taking over a large metropolitan police force. It is the barbarians not just at the gate, but over the threshold.

Reminds me of the Michael Brownies who defended the rioting and destruction because the businesses were INSURED.

We left Dallas back in the 70s during the white flight. The city has done nothing for me to want to return.

Great, this as*hole is making victims out of murderers. There is no limit to the stupid in some people.

The city (our disgusting neighbor to the east) is completely eaten up with self-flagellating political correctness. Unfortunately, it’s seeping into Tarrant County.

I love watching these “Locked Up Abroad” episodes because it is nice to see someone who is having a worse day then me. While I acknowledge there is a great deal of “selection bias” there is one thing that impresses me about these stories. After they got out of their long sentences in foreign prisons it appears they all got the message and none went back to smuggling hash or whatever. While it is satisfying in a smug way to “feel good” about Criminal Justice Reform and reducing sentences I can’t help but wonder if perhaps “brutal” sentences are more of a deterrent.

If it were up to me I would demolish every prison and return to floggings, stocks, and the gallows. They are all much cheaper, in the end, more “humane”, and as near as I can tell more of a real deterrent. (How much graffiti do they have in Singapore?)

And whose fault is that?

Free public education.
Free technical education.
Free or low cost community college.
Free courses and training in most prison environments.

The failure is Libs like Hall who have provided 'offenders' with passes most of their lives.

When do they take responsibility for themselves?

The only people forced to commit violent acts are the people attacked by criminals defending themselves from criminals.
Criminals do it voluntarily.

And God forbid that someone defend themselves from a violent criminal, like Michael Brown.

I think so. Capital punishment would be more effective if it were carried out while people still recalled the crime.

So the returned convict solves his problem by murdering someone? That will get him back to a place where he can get fed regularly and doesn’t have to look for work so I guess it is a winning strategy.

Between this idiot and the new DA “Let ‘em go” Creuzot (pronounced crew-so), Dallas is on track to continue it’s slide into a wannabe Chicago/Detroit mindset!

The new DA said that he would not prosecute anyone for thefts below $750 in value, UNLESS the police could show that the theft was for personal gain. He then tried to clarify his stupidity with “it isn’t a crime to be poor.” As if THEFT is the only way people can provide food for their families (apparently the DA has never heard of the poor getting a job, or going to a food bank, or begging, or seeking help at a church, or from their friends or family)!

In addition, and unfortunately, Fort Worth/Tarrant County are on track to make the necessary moves to follow suit!

Honestly, I am re-thinking my move back to north Texas from the Houston and San Antonio areas! It seems ALL of these large cities are infested with stupidity and utter lack of common sense!

“... return to floggings, stocks, and the gallows. “

I tend to agree. The Singapore method of caning is something that is reportedly quite painful—not something that most want to repeat. It’s over, except for the pain, in minutes, costs the government very little, and the miscreant is able to return to normal life in weeks, instead of months or years of a prison sentence. Most people, including criminal types tend to want to avoid pain. The juvenile criminals I used to teach were quite adamant about it—they were quite happy to inflict pain on others, but were very unhappy if they were on the receiving end.

Nobody is “forced” to commit violent acts.

She is just trying to make excuses for violent criminals, for whom in reality there is no excuse.

Dignity is something you either have within you or you don’t.

Poverty does not force violence upon you.

Anger causes violence, and you can keep yourself under control.

There are public places that offer help. There are private organizations that offer help.

Those who can’t get help, have burned their bridges to places that can help, by refusing to do something to help themselves, keep themselves clean from drugs and alcohol.

Good people are driven to the street at times, but if they struggle on, they won’t be there that long, and they won’t live in squalor.

I say bring in branding as a deterrent too. You steal, we brand a big “T” for “Thief” on your forehead so everyone who meets you knows what you are.
